The Associated Press Monday, July 8, 2002; 10:21 AM LOS ANGELES ?? An amateur video shows Inglewood police officers punching a teenager and slamming his head against the hood of a patrol car, and the department said it will investigate.

The probe was announced Sunday after the tape, taken a day earlier from a nearby motel, was turned over to police and local media.

I would support criminal charges against him if he did it again as well.

When they picked him up from the ground, he appeared to be stiff and unconscious. Later, after getting slammed onto the back of the car, he lifts up his head and seems alert. Maybe I should say he looked more "injured" when they picked him up, than totally "unconscious"

More may come out about this but from what I've seen the cops went a little overboard since the kid was subdued.

I wish I had a million bucks for everytime someone wearing a badge has swung at me cuffed or uncuffed. Back in my old longhaired rebellious dope smoking days in the early 70s, this kind of stuff was just how it was. If you flapped yer gator, or tried to run or fight back or whatever..if you got the wrong cop...you were in for an ass whipping. Plain and simple and no one gave a sh!te. "Course sadly...I was just a white boy driving too fast with a bag of weed. LOL...usually had a gun too...funny thing...they could have cared less about the guns or gunrack back then.

You wanna play rough with cops of any color....be prepared for hardball. BFD...a sucker punch to this perp's dainty little jawbone ain't exactly the worse thing I've seen or experienced from cops of all hues.

Any of you bleeding hearts care to try out street duty on the lovely streets of Inglewood for a spell?....might rain on your lofty Pollyanna Parade.

Too bad the a$$hole kid wasn't killed. Less criminals are better. Moral: don't mouth off to the cops you stupid jerk!

Has Sharpton and Jackson been on the news pimping this and threatening lawsuits? I bet mommy is on welfare with more brats who are illiterate at home.

Unless you have more facts than the rest of us these comments are biased generalizations. Why don't you wait before posting junk like this?

I feel a little guilty about agreeing with you, but from what I saw on the news this is no where near a Rodney King type thing. (although of course king was fighting and resisting on the parts the media didn't show).
It just seems to me there is more to this story. Having witnessed an incident like this once I am really reluctant to just believe the media's spin on this.

Yeah, on the surface, that's rather harsh, but what did the piece of sh!t do? Did he maliciously endanger innocent lives? We don't know.

We DO know.
How do you maliciously endanger innocent lives from the back seat of a car?
You mean there was something other than potato chips in the bag?

That's what I think. A lot of these kids in Special Ed are there because of their violent nature. They can/should not be placed with "normal" kids.

They have permanent attitude problems usually inherited from their single (14 years old at the time of inception) mothers. These kids don't even know their own fathers, but that's no big cheese as nor do their mothers, and at least they get an endless row of crack dealing "uncles" as role models. As far as the mothers are concerned the child is merely a pay cheque and a pain in the a$$, something to be pushed out of the house and onto the street as soon and often as possible. While the Spec Ed helps the state spend money and the kids waste the time of day, if they feel like turning up that is, the only education these children will get is one from those they hang out with... now bear in mind exactly who that is.

Since I was born in Los Angeles, I know this area is pretty bad and has a huge amount of welfare addicts.

To Prodigal Daughter: It's tragic, and sad and all the rest, but at the end of the day people do have to face up to their own responsibilities, and the repercussions of their own actions, they're not merely a product of society, which is a nice liberal view, and excuses all sorts of behaviour, especially of the liberals in question, people are also a product of themselves. (Hey life's tough sometimes, but it won't get any better unless you actually put in the effort yourself).

Fortunately for this kid, he decided to buy a bag of potato chips and NOT a Slurpee!

OK, so do I get a free shot at you, as long as I don't do it twice?

So what? When stopped by police...you get out of your car...you do whatever a policeman asks. You don't mouth off. End of story!

Well, well!
You're a good commie citizen, aren't you?!
Comrade Stalin knows best, don't mouth off at Comrade Stalin.

Which People's Committee do you belong to? Hmm?

Well, the father was with the son at the time, so this kid knew his father. I'm going to give the kid the benefit of the doubt as being nonviolent until the media produces a rap sheet from police records or from school records.

If he does it again, then it is time to fire him since obviously he can't control his temper and a reprimand did not work.

You mean sorta like every Catholic Priest gets one boy free?

First of all, don't assume: grlfrnd sounds like the progeny of a low IQ no-neck with a closet full of blue windbreakers and black BDUs. The kid who got hit might in fact have a higher IQ.

Oh good one, maybe what rwfromkansas meant is we get one free use of a broom handle on him, as long as we really really promise not to do it again.

Oddly as it may seem to you, I am exponentially more sympathetic to local Glock Jocks who work mean streets than I am to the JBTs your link provided.

Not knowing jack about what happened prior to the little sucker punch the cop gave the perp, I'd say suspend the cop and fine him or give him a "demerit of sorts" and work a sweet yet cheap deal with the perp unless he did something truly bad and move on.

If it weren't a black kid getting smacked by a white cop (with a black cop holding him)who'd care? A couple of years ago some black UC cops in Baltimore I think chased down a purse snatcher on tape and whipped him pretty good. That died down quickly...very little of the Al and Jesse Show. The highest number of black perps killed proportionately in the country and nearly always by black cops is in DC. Where's the outrage? Are all you bleeding hearts upset over a little in your face violence or the race factor or just because you don't like heavyhanded cops? I don't like heavyhanded cops much either but I don't lose much sleep over it.

Fed JBT gungrabbers...that's another matter entirely. I can't stand them.

Well said, except in most of your earlier posts you were applauding the cop, not making possible excuses for his behavior.
