I used to like you, but am beginning to lose respect for you.
There is a big difference between the government finding ways to give good healthcare and 'socialized medicine.' The govt. can work to expand private sector programs etc.

Please, start a new thread regarding your opinions of each other...its pretty off subject.

SEC Auditor Independence Hearing
The Senate Banking Securities Subcommittee held a hearing Sept. 28 on a hotly debated Securities and Exchange (SEC) proposed rule that would curtail the types of consulting that an accounting firm could provide its audit clients.
The SEC proposal, issued in June, seeks to prevent conflicts of interest by more clearly defining when an auditor is independent for purposes of SEC rules, and by requiring the financial statements of publicly traded companies to be independently audited. Those testifying included SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt; John H. Biggs, CEO of TIAA-CREF; and Barry Melancon, president of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Testimony from the hearing is available at

Stop picking on Registered.
President Bush himself said that he desires accountability.
Well the US Constitution -- which President Bush swore to uphold and defend -- has no allowance for federal health care.
If you buy a mutual fund that, by it's charter, invests in Railroad Stocks, and their directors and CEO decide to dump the RR stocks and buy drug stocks -- without changing the charter, why you as an investor in that fund could sue them for any damages and win.
So you should praise folks that raise valid complaints about Bush's administration. That is if you really want to hold Mr. Bush to the high standard he has earned and deserves.
But then maybe you are some sort of Affirmative Action type, and think that the bar should always be low for your good buddies and homeys.
I do not think Mr. Bush likes a low bar. He is a fine high hurdler.

your comment is easily the most ridiculous item on this entire thread. That means a lot coming from you, Clara Lou.

I'd normally agree, but I also take into account factors beyond his control (the Jeffords defection), and the fact he might have a different METHOD than others on this forum might choose.
I want results. We'll debate methods after we get the results.

My specialty is satirizing that dummy.
No, that wasn't a quote from him, but I must be good if people believe it is.

You know, guy ... if I were going to pin the mobilization of the entire world (one way or another, with us or agin' us) on the US's "War on Terror" as focused on the one guy Osama Bin Laden ... I'd want absolute control over him.
I think that's easier done dead than alive.
I find it hard to believe he wasn't a goner before the towers were hit though I suppose a Live word of encouragement probably would be a nice touch for the suicide team.
I think it's really cheesy for our partners in the War Against Terror ... those Former Soviets who've worked so hard to get their Anti-Terror Internationale up and running so quickely ... not to let us know one way or another.
They know, I'm sure.

Imagine where our country would be if the press did its supposed job of reporting the actual news. They wouldn't know how to report the truth if it smacked them upside their heads
They have an agenda .. plain and simple

True will of Pali people should be reflected in the government. He needs to understand that their will IS being reflected in the leadership today! I caught that - it made me a bit nervous. I think he's thinking that if they can be properly influenced with a taste of true democracy / republicanism, meaning also that they don't have to live in fear, having territory to call home without constant dispute, and can run their own economy, they will change their thinking about Israel.
To: PhiKapMom
When Bush smilingly referred to someone in the fifth ring at the Pentagon who'd been talking ... it sounded to me like he was saying, We know where this leak came from, and that he was using a not-very-veiled way to let the talker know that they know.
To: GretchenEE
Well Lou wasn't mincing words .. he called the CEO's crooks and they should go to JAIL .. LOL
Well it's been fun all but I need to be fix'n some dinner
