New laws aren't needed, we just need the ones we have now to be enforced.

Exactly. I saw an article in which it cited polling data which showed that most Americans prefer this approach. More oversight, but not more legislation.

Well, it worked!! Limbaugh focused on this issue for almost his whole first hour...

Well, sonoffagun! I can dream, I guess... but whatever the reason, I'm glad to hear it.

In my travels as the househusband ( and formerly as a wrecker driver ) I have noticed a lot of very diverse people listen to talk radio- not just Rush, but all sorts of conservative and even Libertarian talkers. I really believe talk radio is more influential that the Jackal Pack Media wants to acknowledge.

The real stunner is that, despite the fact that Worldcom restated its earnings from 1997-2001, a period of time in which Bush was president for only 11 of the 60 months covered by the restated earnings, 46% of the people still blame Bush.

You are being naive. Whenever Clinton perjured himself, suborned perjury or in some other way abused power, the response was, ``the economy is great, so it doesn't matter.'' The zeitgeist that created made it more possible for the Enrons and others to happen. The attitude wwas, ``as long as things are going well today, we don't need the rules.'' Of course, all the people involved in illegal activities made their decisions on their own, and have no excuse, but you underrate how much of an impact on society this can have.

Yes, and they continue to lose market share and audience, but they claim they can't figure out why. Maybe, they should consider just reporting without spin and their agendas, and stop condescending to us.

"So you think that if Clinton didn't get blow jobs in the Oval Office, Andersen's partners wouldn't have knowingly conspired with Enron officials to hide accounting malfeasance?"

I am not sure where you got that idea. But, if you honestly think that Bill Clinton's immorality had a positive effect on American morals, please tell.

Couldn't be because Clinton relaxed some rules here and there with a nudge and a wink, could it? I mean, it's not like the Clintons had any scandals now, right? < / joking

Dude, you are seriously weird.

I never, in my life, said any such thing.

Are you hearing voices in your head?

The zeitgeist that created made it more possible for the Enrons and others to happen.

Zeitgeist, shmeitgeist.

The people who committed these crimes are responsible.

I lived through the Reagan years. I lived through the Clinton years. I was responsible for my own actions during both.

Did you behave yourself better under Reagan and worse under Clinton? Or were you somehow immune to the corrupting zeitgeist?

Of that number, more than half, 26 percent "strongly agreed" that Clinton was partially responsible for the business scandals. The rest, 25 percent, "moderately agreed" the ex-president deserved blame.

Great! Thanks for the ping.
