This is kinda scary. What is the evidence that standard smallpox vaccination would work against the many known genetically modified versions?

Good question. Would also like to know the answer. I assume that if you have no other options, your best bet is to get vacinated against the known version and hope it carries over to the modified version. It would be better than doing nothing.
