Had the Brits not recieved huge amounts of military aid, food, money and actual US troops and Navy, they would have been destroyed in Africa, in Europe and Asia. If they won a few battles, they lost heavily at Dunkirk, Dieppe, Africa, Greece, Cyprus, Singapore, Hong Kong, Burma and in the early battles in Europe. If Montgomery hadn't been such a wimp, we would have won in Europe much sooner. Ungrateful Britidiots!

Churchill, who knew something about it, was the first to proclaim the enormous debt owed by Britain to the US.

By the same token, we should recognize that the Brits fought on when there was no rational reason for them to believe that they could win, and when the Germans were anxious to make peace on the basis of the British retaining their Empire.

Some modern-day Brits need a boot in the arse, but all of us owe a debt to their fathers and grandfathers.
