Churchill, who knew something about it, was the first to proclaim the enormous debt owed by Britain to the US.
By the same token, we should recognize that the Brits fought on when there was no rational reason for them to believe that they could win, and when the Germans were anxious to make peace on the basis of the British retaining their Empire.
Some modern-day Brits need a boot in the arse, but all of us owe a debt to their fathers and grandfathers.

I'll have to dig around the Internet, but I once saw a line by line item list of supplies and equipment we sent to Soviet Russia, I'll try to post that, or maybe somebody has better access to that. It's truly staggering.
