Psalm 116
¹   I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
²   Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
³   The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
⁴   Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
⁵   Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank You for this day and for the many blessings You have given us. I thank You for the beautiful Summer sunshine and for the safety that You have given us in this nation of freedom. I pray, Lord, that our freedom does continue and that we will not abuse it or take it for granted.

I lift up to You President Bush and pray that You would keep him focussed upon Your will and determined to walk in Your ways. Give him wisdom and strength to persevere in the midst of opposition, and give him favor with the American people that confounds his enemies. Help him to follow You and to not turn to the right or the left, because we know that he is a mere human being and could stray so easily. Help him to be courageous in standing for what is right and to be an example to others who watch him around the world. And, protect him and Laura from all harm.

I lift up to You the United States Senate and pray Lord that even now You will work in the hearts of the men and women who influence how the Senate votes. Lord, send revival and spiritual awakening to the ranks of the senators and astound all who watch as our government begins to be transformed to one government that reveres You.

Go with us the rest of this day, Lord, and bless us that we may praise Your name. For it is in the holy and precious name of Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior that I pray these things, Amen.

Father, thank You for giving us George W. We fought for him, and you helped us to have him in place for this time. He asks You to lead him, and we see You in him. We know You are with George, because he constantly speaks of love. Loving our neighbors "just like we'd like to be loved ourselves". He is not political, he is not religious, he just believes in You and follows You. We are with him in this war against terror, against evil. Let the unity of the country remain strong.

Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

Thanks be to You, our God, for the blessings You shower upon us and for the victory we have through Jesus Christ. Thank you for the gift of life eternal that You have promised us if we confess our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Thank You for being the firm foundation on which we stand. We bless Your name, O Lord.

Father, we come to You on behalf of all those who live in darkness in this country. We pray especially for our senators, our judges, the major media people, and the entertainment giants. We know, Father, that the devil has established tremendous strongholds in the lives of many of them. Please tear down the walls that keep them from You. Let them hear the Word of God and believe. Send forth messengers of the Holy Spirit to them to witness and share the good news of the Gospel, that all may be saved. Father, we need You in this nation, and we need You to help reshape our government and our media and our entertainers so that they reflect the love and truth that only come from You. We pray for righteous leadership in the Senate, Father, so that Your name may be glorified by the laws passed in this nation. Please move in America in a mighty way and save us from becoming a rotting, decaying nation.

Our President has asked us to pray for wisdom for him, Father. Please shower him with the wisdom that is Yours alone to give, just as You gave wisdom to Your servant, Solomon. We pray also that You would continue to provide President Bush with a winning ability to reach out to others and to communicate that same wisdom to them. Father, give him the skills of presentation and persuasion, that others may understand his plans and may be won by his leadership. Please grant safety and Your hedge of protection around him and his family, Father. Help his daughters to spend time in the Word and in seeking Your will for their lives this summer. Please grant strength and wisdom to Laura, and help her to continue to edify and love her husband. Let her be a virtuous woman in every way.

Thank You for hearing our prayers today, Father. We are truly grateful for the wonderful answers You continue to send us, and we rejoice in knowing that You are the God who is faithful to His children. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
