As many of you may already know, Fellow Freeper Texana_RED's home was washed away in the devastating floods that are hitting Texas right now. Some of you may have seen video of a house in Kerrville floating downstream, then hitting a tree, and disintegrating. That was Texana_RED's home. Some of you may have seen an interview showing a woman on televison pointing to her red pickup truck which was lodged in a tree. That was Texana_RED. She literally got out with her pajamas, with 2 of her dogs. She lost the rest of her pets, and all the contents of her house, and workshop.
Some of you may have met Texana marching around the Governor's mansion after the election, or at the Freeper Inaugural Ball.
With Jim Robinson's gracious permission, I am being allowed to bring this Freeper in Distress Call to your attention. If you would like to send a donation to help, please check the Texas Chapter Board, or Freepmail Sockmonkey or Anymouse.

Great idea. I'm in Houston, and I know that I can get some clothes, blankets, etc...Anyone in Houston going that way?
To: TexanaRED; All
Just got a call from Texana_Red. She says thank you to all her FReeper friends for their prayers and thoughts.
Apparently she did get her car to higher ground and is staying with friends. But although she had insurance on her home, she didn't have flood insurance. Her truck that was swept away only had basic liability insurance on it, so it is a loss too.
Texana_Red will try to access FR tomorrow from a friend's computer and tell us all what happened.
She has talked to FEMA already, but like a true FReeper is deadset against taking any government aid, even in obvious need.

Thank you very much.....

Try and convince her to take that aid. That is the original intent of these programs. It's not welfare, it's a hand to help her back up on her feet.

Any help she can get is a return to her on tax dollars that she has given to the Govt. I hope she accepts it; it is a just use of the money.
To: sockmonkey
You tell her to hang in there, we'll get her something to work with and she'll be back on her feet in no time.

Has anyone pinged the Hole Dwellers?
To: 2Jedismom
No. I just posted that link in the Hole.

Please don't post Texana_Red's home address on this thread.
We don't want the disruptors to get ahold of it and harass her in this time of crisis.
If someone can't find Texana_Red's address from the Texas locale page, then FReepmail me and I'll send you the address.
Thanks.

Thanks for posting the contact information. Let's all send a check to help our fellow FReeper.

She has talked to FEMA already, but like a true FReeper is deadset against taking any government aid, even in obvious need. LOL, that's Texana_RED, she told me in a defiant voice "I'll live in a tent before I take a government handout."
In my tactful Sockmonkey way, I said, "Under most circumstances I'd agree with that, but you don't even have a p*t to p*ss in. I realize you are independent, but you really need help."
To: GUIDO
I have heard there is a Super Walmart near her so I got a gift card that I will get in the mail to her tomarrow. What a great idea!
To: anymouse
Done! Sorry! (cringe!)

Are Money Orders better than checks? Yes, they are.

ping, prayer, and a bump. Thanks for the ping, kayak and RNMomof7, I will send what I can, although, financially, I'm struggling, but not like her......for that I am thankful.
