Highway Standoff near Palo Alto, CA

Breaking news: at least 2 people (believed men) were stopped on freeway near Palo Alto. When CHP arrived, they took off. The car has Tennesse plates. It is unknown why, at this time, the men are evading police. The CHP has stopped all traffic in one direction of the freeway, as the suspects are "contained" within a lane of traffic.....developing.

Wouldn't have mattered. There's no general purpose sprinkler system in the world capable of handling a fire generated by that much jet fuel.

And they just said that the criver reached over, seemed to pick something up, and appeared to put it on his head. I swear to God, they just announced this! Maybe a tinfoil hat?

Listen...if the CHP didn't shut down the freeway, what the heck do you think would happen? People would be flying by, with a car stuck right in the middle of the road, and if they have guns could start shooting a innocent people. I think the CHP has gotten enough flack from the CA people about highspeed chases. What are they suppossed to do? Shoot the perpetrators in the car and then figure it out later? This happens all the time in CA and yes, it's a pain in the neck, but the job of police officers is to protect the public and that's exactly what they are doing. The two (or more) people in the car may be armed and dangerous and maybe the police don't want to trip the fuse.

Also, I just heard that the driver in the car was observed putting something on his head? Maybe like a turban or something? They don't know what it is at this point.

This thing is right outside Livermore ? As in Lawerence Livermore National Lab's and the car is from Tennesee ? As in Oak Ridge National Lab's maybe ??.............car pool road rage IMHO

2 things:
1- The attorney in Memphis was shot by a man upset that his exwife got most of the rental property in the divorce. He killed HIS attorney.
2- The ME case in Memphis is connected to a death row case, white guy killed a cop, and the bomber has been sending letters indicating he is displeased with Smith for testifying.
There's enough mess going on here without folks getting unconnected cases mixed up.

Well, you know this, TB...when planning a terrorist attack, one can never be too careful. /sarcasm off.

BTW...maybe he was doing a "test run" to see if anyone at the Towers would have asked for ID. Or, maybe he was planning on putting something deadly in the sprinkler system in case the hijacked planes did not happen. Who knows?
