El Al Pilot Reported Missile Explosion Next to Plane

(IsraelNN.com) An El Al pilot reported what appeared to be a surface-to-air missile exploding next to a flight. The plane was heading from Tel Aviv to Russia. The flight landed without incident in Moscow.

El Al officials reported with certainty the plane was not in military airspace, but in a regular international commercial lane.

Apology, I said it was an El Al plane, you are right it was from Russia. However it flew from Israel, and seems to have been chartered by an Israeli concern. The whole story of the accident was rather odd. Especially as this seems to have been followed by another "accident". I agree with the poster who suggested that the Ukranian office who took responsibility for the first "accidental" shoot down has probably been quietly pensioned off by now.

A few years ago I stayed with a family in Frankfurt. I spoke no German, although I spoke a little Dutch which is similar, and the family spoke no English. The father, who was a kid in WWII, took special delight in showing me before and after aerial photos of Frankfurt. The before pictures were before the Americans bombed, the after photos were after the Americans bombed. You could tell he was still angry and still hates Americans because of it. I felt like telling him I was born long after that, that I had nothing to do with bombing Frankfurt.

People sure do hold on to grudges for a long time.

We are still debating, behind closed doors, this "political over safety" issue even after TWA 800 fell victim to a SAM, likely a Stinger-B or Chinese knock-off. I have not read the TWA 800 "accident report", which did not ground immediately all 747s if fuel tank wiring were actually the ascertained cause of its mid-air explosion.

There appear to be some on this forum who do not believe in Free Speech. Freedom of speech keeps a country strong. When some people on this forum don't like what somewhat else has to say, they resort to name calling. It seems as if they only want their point of view to be expressed, and all other points of view are "hate crimes". We must never give in to that, as to bury truth spells doom for all of us. This is a very traditional bolshevik ploy.
