While I agree with both of your points on letting the Company decide the policy and the market dictate if it's acceptable or not, I still have the right to speak my mind and I think the policy is rude.

Ok, fair enough. I thought you might go the route of "Well, I hope she sues, and I hope she wins... there ought to be a law..."

I hope she does sue and win since she had already paid for two seats since she was flying with her son, a child. I can't see how she would have spilled in anyone else's seat, but the one she already paid for that he likely would not have taken up, again assuming he is an average 9 yr old. This is over the line given the circumstances and assuming what I said of the 9 yr old. If this woman sat at the window and her son in the center, exactly what other passenger was she imposing upon? Southwest was wrong in this case.
