Why is it that the Arab world, with all its potential oil wealth, is still such a backward place, both economically and politically? Why is it that the hundreds of millions of people who make up the Arab world are incapable of producing more non-petroleum-related goods than Finland? And why can't the culture come up with anything more to offer the world than homicide bombers and Osama bin Laden? According to the New York Times' Tom Friedman, riffing on a U.N.-sponsored report by a bunch of Arab intellectuals bemoaning the state of the Arab world, the problem is "a shortage of freedom to speak, innovate and affect political life, a shortage of women's rights and a shortage of quality education."

Well, that's fine - so far as it goes. But let's take a look at the "root causes" of all this, as they say on the Left. The answer to all these problems can be boiled down to one word: Islam.

This is no coincidence. Mohammad was a gangster trying to establish a self-perpetuating regime for personal and family monetary benefit.

But, but, it's not the true islam! It's a religion of peace, it's been hijacked, it's a fringe element.

The moderates will not flourish until we take care of the jihadis, the state that supports them, Saudi Arabia, their lapdogs, the Pakistanis, the Axis of Evil and bring them to the modern era either through fear, respect or the tiredness of defeat on the battlefield.

To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. COULD THIS BE PART OF THE REASON?

Apparently Islam & Pedophilia have a long history. Especially in the Muslim countries. Why else would there be a necessity for something called "Child Marriage Restraint Act to Muslims" ?

Some detail of that Act:
§ The Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929, prescribes the minimum age of 18 years for girls and 21 years for boys for contracting marriage, and "extends to the whole of India except the State of J&K and it applies also to all citizens of India without and beyond India."
§ Registration of marriage is compulsory under the Christian Marriages Act, 1872.
§ Under the Hindu Marriages Act, there exists a provision for registration of marriages. However, it's left to the contracting parties to either solemnise the marriage before the sub-registrar or register it after performing the ceremony in conformity with Hindu beliefs.
§ Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat have already amended the Hindu Marriages Act, making registration of Hindu marriages compulsory in these states.
§ Rajasthan, MP, UP, Haryana, Orissa and Bihar, where child marriages are rampant, haven't moved towards compulsory registration. (A 1993 UNICEF survey of 5,000 women in Rajasthan found that 56% had married before the age of 15 and, of these, 17% before they were 10 years old.)
§ Andhra Pradesh passed the Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2002, also to give legal status to wedlock. The Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission recommended the new law since "in number of bigamy cases the wives are losing their cases by reason of their failure to prove the first or second marriage of their husbands."
§ In September 2000, the Union government rejected the National Human Rights Commission's proposal for compulsory registration of Hindu marriages -- as had the Narasimha Rao government in 1994 and the Deve Gowda government in 1996. The "Hindu nationalist party" that upheld the Uniform Civil Code in its election manifesto, was not in favour of interfering with the personal law of Hindu individuals...

So what do some Islamic feel is the appropriate age of marriage? Well, as per the Shariat, "a girl could marry after reaching puberty." Problem is, girls are technically reaching puberty faster than before; as one medic on parentsoup.com writes, "It is true that girls are developing earlier in this modern world. Some believe this may be due to a variety of stimulants as diverse as artificial light to our high fat diets." She -- like every doctor counseling on female puberty -- says that in Stage Four, ie, between the ages of 10 and 16 years, "Underarm hair is likely to appear in this stage, as is menarche. A girl's first period (menarche) usually occurs, but may occur late in Stage Three [9 to 15 years], typically, about a year after breast buds form. Ovulation may occur, but not on a regular basis."

America must be a haven for this breed of Islamics. Why do they allegedly want to destroy us?

Between scantily clad Britney Spears on MTV, and quickly developing Leanne Rimes on CMT, Is it any wonder that pretty little blond girls are disappearing almost daily?

Then to add to the mix, we have a bust of a HUGE child porn ring (see: http://www.rumormillnews.net/m embers/cgi-bin/config.cgi?read=20682 and continuing thread) - exactly who is keeping this type of porn so lucrative? Are American & British men totally lacking in moral principals or is it the influence of the spread of Islam that is perverting then minds of men?

If there is a connection between the people involved in the Porn ring & the Islamic faith, do you think we will be told?

Or a more pressing question, exactly where does our Constitutional Right to Freedom of Religion play into all this?

Interesting what Patton said about islam.

Its also indicative of the core nature of a faith when you compare its extremists. Extremist islam produces Al Kaida and bloodthirsty suicide bombers. Extremist Christianity produces Amish people and some really good pumpkin pies.

There were many Christian sects scattered throughout the middle east prior to the rise of Islam. Some vestiges can still be found, like the Coptics in Egypt, but are fading fast of late as the Muhammadans are becoming more assertive.

To be fair, it's the only "religion", and i use that word advisedly, because, IMO, its's an ideology masquerading as a religion, it't the only religion in whose name we were attacked on September 11, 2001 resulting over 3000+ fatalities and an unknown number of non-fatal casualties.
