Posted on 07/03/2002 6:57:07 AM PDT by newsperson999

Although most the city was spared form the heavist rain last night areas just west got nailed again with ranfall rates approaching 6 inches an hour. At these mod/heavy rain is moving back into the city. the system is drifting west taking the slower moving rains with it..However, the sun is coming out east of the system and thunderstorms will redevelop later this morning like the did yesterday.

Some of the video from IH-10 and La Cantera parkway is remarkable...the water is flowing over the expressway. They just found a car - half submerged - on a nearby golf course.

You certainly have developed a persona here on FR, newsperson999. I consider you to be the FR weatherman/woman. Don't know what we'd do without you!

I'm in Kerrville. I had 2 rooms flood, but that was nothing compared to some of the damage I've seen this morning. I was worried about Texan_RED a fellow freeper, and drove by her house this AM- IT IS GONE! Only the piers are left. I thought I must be crazy, but there was one little picket from her fence hanging on the bridge by her house-The devastation is horrible.

If anyone has heard from her, Please post. I'm sure she is in major need of freeper help. I am just freaking out that she lost everything so quickly.

Oh my dear, I will pray even harder for all of you and especially for Texan_RED.

A prayer bump to my fellow Catholic FReepers.

Thanks, prayers needed. In my haste, and distress, I typed Texan_Red, and it's Texana_RED, aka, Llana.
Thanks, Siobhan

Any more information on that car -- we spent almost 8 years in Boerne before moving to Oklahoma in 1997. I used to drive I-10 a lot and we had season tickets to Fiesta Texas and the golf course is just back of that. My son tried to call his best friend in Boerne last night, but no answer!

I lived there the last time it really flooded and they took a canoe around the high school parking lot.

Sorry, Dallas. I don't, but it's not a name I've heard associated with any of the evacuations. A lot of people here are okay, they just can't go anywhere.

My prayers go with you and Texana and the rest of the folks in that area of the Texas Hill Country. If it is this bad in Kerrville, I cannot imagine what the Guadalupe River is going to do as it goes through Comfort and on north of Boerne into New Braunsfels. I remember when it flooded before and left cows in the trees over by New Braunsfels and this sounds a lot worse than that!

Texana_Red's house is gone? Where is this exactly? Did people get out in time? Please keep us updated and prayers continue for the people living in this area. If only you could send us some of your rain - it would even things out. We have had some recently but not near enough. We have water restrictions going up all over our area.

No. Spoke to my son yesterday late. He is in the Mississippi All State Band staying at the Drury Inn (part of the Riverwalk). Said the drainage system is working as advertised and no flooding in that area. He said the river was up slightly but no danger of flooding because of the drainage system.

Thanks, we'll need the luck. They said we might get another 10 inches here today. I just couldn't believe the damage today. Cars in houses (4 blocks from my house), houses in trees, houses gone. These are houses that weren't touched by the 98, 93, and 78 floods.
