Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials

GABEO NEWS

The following resolution was authored by The Reverend Henry Ficklin , Macon City Council and Treasurer of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials. It was unanimously adopted during the recent convention on June 22, 2002.

WHEREAS: Senator Zell Miller has long enjoyed the overwhelming support of the Georgia African American vote in his races both for Lt. Governor and Governor of our state; and

WHEREAS: Both his appointment and election as Senator from the state of Georgia also were unquestionably and heavily supported by the African American voters of our state; and

WHEREAS: Senator Zell Miller has been the epitome of the southern gentleman in all his public dealings, especially as it relates to ladies and his colleagues from the state of Georgia; and

WHEREAS: Senator Miller in his book, Corps Values, states that "the only basis upon which diversity can coexist with commonality and all people can pursue individual goals for themselves while contributing to the general well-being and advancement of society as a whole" is the core values he learned during his 90 days of basic training for the Marine Corps on Parris Island; and

WHEREAS: "Core values" include respect of others (particularly females) and the fundamental Christian teachings of diversity and inculcation of the Golden Rule; and

WHEREAS: Senator Miller has recently made scurrilous comments and excoriating remarks regarding Representative Cynthia McKinney, the first African American female elected to the U.S. Congress from the state of Georgia; and

WHEREAS: His comments and remarks seek to impugn the integrity of Representative Cynthia McKinney's coexistent diversity in the U.S. Congress as she pursues individual goals for herself while she contributes to the general well being and advancement of society as a whole; and

WHEREAS: Many news revelations and public sentiment have regarded Representative Cynthia McKinney's political acumen as clairvoyant and prudent, Senator Zell Miller has refused to temper his continuous flay towards Representative Cynthia McKinney.

THEREFORE: The Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO) resolved that Senator Zell Miller is urged to remedy the dissension resulting from his remarks of difference and regain the friendship status that he has long since enjoyed with a constituency that was offended by his comments by offering Representative Cynthia McKinney the same respect given to other elected leaders in the state of Georgia, thus returning to the core values that make it possible for all of us to coexist with commonalty despite our diversity.

Why won't these Black Democrats support Majette, who is a Democrat?

Several reasons - firstly, she's an unknown commodity; she doesn't have any kind of name recognition. Secondly, McKinney has a huge organization which was built around prior campaigns for her US Congressional runs as well as her stints in the State House. Third is name recognition - McKinney and her father are still very popular folks in metro Atlanta; even though she is an embarrasment and her dad (a former Atlanta cop and current Georgia state representative) is just plain crazy.

What it boils down to is that in many quarters in the less affluent portions of her district, she is seen as a hero who has "taken on the man." They are about as dim as she is, and if they outnumber more rational folks at the polls, she's back in - none of the GOP candidates have a snowball's chance in h@ll of beating her in the general election.

Miller has become an icon in GA politics and no longer needs to cater to the black militants. Of course, he may yet cater to them, but he is so strong that he could win forever in GA without black support.

Thanks for this great thread.

Sounds like Mullah/Fatima Mckinney is in trouble, when she and her black racists go after Zel.

Is the close relationship with Mullah/Fatima Mckinney and her Islamic financial supporters starting to cause her problems at home?

The DemocRat for a day program sounds like a great program.

As a follow-up to the above, my cynical take on things is that Kabul Cindy is unbeatable; I expect her team can create as much election fraud as is necessary to win the primary.

The "less affluent portion of her district" could care less where she gets her money.

We both know that you are 100% correct in your statement re they could care less where her funding comes from. As long as they get our tax $'s from her, everything is fine.

Max is such a nice man - and such a socialist when it comes to his voting record. He doesn't leave himself open to much FReeping, though.

I went to the Dunwoody 4th of July parade this morning, as I do most years, and got the opportunity to heckle Cindy when she rode by in her convertible. I invited her to move to Cuba, from about 10 feet away. Her supporter who preceded her on foot, working the crowd, was as nasty as those we met at the library. Denise Majette was in the parade immdiately behind Cynthia, with more supporters present, for what little that's worth.

That's worth quite a bit. It gives hope that maybe Kabul Cindy is losing some of her sheeple-base.

Your invitation to her to move to Cuba was great, FP!
