"AMD is not looking for no improvements before the second half of 2003."

I can't believe AMD is still around! I remember the early to mid 90's when they never acheived the results that they projected. Intel was a client of ours at the time and we did comparisons between them and their so called competitors (Power PC and two others that I can't remember). It was like looking at a sports car vs a bicycle. We couldn't include the two companies on the same charts because of the data disparity!

We kept on predicting that there was no way that they were going to survive and they kept coming back.

I actually read that Becket play that you're referring to...

Whoops! A typo on your statement:

"AMD is not looking for any improvements before the second half of 2003."

AMD

Their strategy had been to be #2 - a little cheaper than Intel and a little behind until they came up with the Athlon processor. Lately it's been a Ghz speed war and I understand that the Athlon enjoys an advantge in certain aspects of their internal architecture.

I think the PC builders want to have at least a couple of competing choices for processors.

Averages sliding again today - Dow just above 8900 a few minutes ago.
