Thanks, Bunny, for the flag.

And thank you, chesty, for the post.

And like most of you, I'm having a difficult time seeing the monitor.
May God watch over His nation and keep giving us young men like this.

I really appreciate your hail, Snow Bunny, and you, chesty, for posting this beautiful anecdote.

Greatness is measured not by the size of the individual, but the size of their heart.

Here is a wonderful quote my son sent; the inscription on a plaque with a clock on it his students gave him last week; these words worth remembering:

" The ultimate test of a man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard."

In appreciation, NSU Class of 2003.

(I do not know the author of those words.)

As a Jarhead, two things come to mind:

I can attest to the joy that mail from home brings. It is amazing to see the genuine pleasure that mail call brings, as well as the deep dissapointment of those who come away empty handed. That Marine was genuinely thankful.

If I was a young, single devildog coming back from Afghanistan, I would have a flag for every single female who wrote to "any serviceman" and I would make time to deliver them, too!

Semper Fi!

I do fear for the younger generation. This man learned what it is all about. The problem will be explaining it all to his friends who sat home and did nothing. The problem is all those kids being sent to college, and being brainwashed that it was all our fault.

This man told how great it was to know they were supported, how wonderful the mail was, the cookies from strangers. I wonder how many of his friends sent him anything.

Every veteran out there knows what i mean. We all can count our true friends we grew up with from back then on one hand, while we had entire battalions of men we would have died for.

I'm glad you're home son, and I wish I could have been with you!
