Let the market dictate what Americans want to drive. Ordinarilly I'd agree. However, I fear that the appetite of the market for cars of high fuel consumption is what is putting money into the hands of these wacky mideast oil nations, which they then divert to terrorists which are trying to kill us. We will not have oil from another source any time soon.

Liberals? That's way too mild. I think that the term you are looking for is leftist socialists.

Are we destined to get into a horsepower comparison? No way, unless you let me retroactively substitute my other one!

Oh, and thanks for the compliment. (However, I refuse to dignify your subsequent blasphemy with a response! ;-)

What has happened to this Country? It was taken over by busybodies and do gooders of all political stripes.
The experiment failed, the patient died. The only question now is how long before the next war.
To: upchuck
Sounds ok to me. But, then, SUVs are on my list of "Things that don't need to be." Thanks for the autobiographical information.
Here's some more information: this is a free country. Your personal opinions of what do or don't "need to be" don't mean jack squat. Capisce?
To: Cagey
What ever happened to the great state of California? Uh, Massive illegal immigration?
To: Dr. Frank
Here's some more information: this is WAS a free country. There I fixed it for you.

SUV's are just pickups with a fully enclosed body and more seats.
Stop the attacks by the wacko, extreme left-wing, anti SUV-nazis terrorist's on our Freedoms !!
Freedom Is Worth Fighting For !!
Molon Labe !!

I'm sorry you mistook my genuine offer of sympathy and an invitation as sarcasm. You rejected that and then commenced to point fingers at my state. Is this your nature or has FR just jaded you a bit?
Politcal correctness here is perhaps at best 10% of what it is in your fair state. The liberals in the Bay Area and LA are holding the rest of you guys hostage. The worm has turned I fear. I'm not sure Conservatives in your state have the demographics anymore. My little brother lived in Carlsbad and my cousin is a state judge in SF. I have traveled there many times and the political disintegration since the mid 80s is all too apparent.
I was quite serious in my offer which goes against the flow of many conservatives here in Nashville who despise all the LaLaLand folks who've migrated here for the entertainment industry the past decade or so.

Pound for pound, the best pet you could own (IMO). Up until my stroke, I owned three of them. They truly do get a bad rap for being overly active. With a little TLC, these highly-intelligent dogs are easily trained.

Well, I took the time to do a find in forum and peruse your recent postings. I see this is a sore subject with you. Forget my musings and the invitation. I respect your desire to fight it out and wish you luck. I share your views on immigration.
Regards.
To: wardaddy
Be confident that I am not alone. I just need to point out from time to time that this titanic immigration "free for all" is no longer limited to the southwest United States. It's truly a nation wide crisis, as most of our own government stands in total silence.
To: wardaddy
And in any event, I am confident that this SUV issue brought to us by communist socialist screw worms, will not succeed. But in a way, I almost wish it would, so it would expedite the AH Davis out the door.

I don't like SUVs myself because they're ugly.I don't like SUVs because they block vision. I live in the city and park on the street. I'm tired of pulling out blind and making blind turns into or across traffic because someone has his SUV parked right up on the corner. (Too big to park legally, y'know.)
I've had two friends get their front ends whacked because of this. They were doing the six-inch-at-a-time creep-out, trying to peek around an illegally parked SUV, when they got smacked. As far as I'm concerned, the SUV owner should be cited in such accidents, and be liable for the damages. I suppose we need a new offense to cover this: how about "reckless parking?"
If I were the mayor, I'd make it a police point of emphasis to ticket every SUV that is parked too close to a corner.

Yes...we have our driver's license debacle here. The idiots won't fix it and it's so obviously flawed. We are a laughingstock. I may run down and proclaim I'm Basque or something and get one as Carlos Whatever..lol.
On a brighter note...we may prevail on the income tax thing...today. My wife and son were down there earlier today. I'm obligated otherwise and my horn is broken from the last time.
Regards!

Now that is a very nice car. Our family actually owned one just like it and I drove it many miles. My first trip around the block in that car was when I was 13-years-old. The parents never new.
Glad to see it is a two door. All the Best :)
To: BJungNan
Glad to see it is a two door. Did you ever see the opening of the sit-com, "Grace Under Fire"? The star was the blue, 1965 Bonneville 4-door she was driving (and filling with gas, appropriately ;-).
I didn't care much for the show but, I would always catch the opening when I could!
To: editor-surveyor
As reported on George Putnam's radio show the reported 41 dem votes were made by
FRAUD -- some cluck was pushing absent assemblymen's voting buttons -- there were not 41 dems present. They had left the room to avoid voting at all.
Consistent Stalinism from the leftists.

They outlawed full sized station wagons by '96 and now they don't like what the market replaced them with. Guess they don't want any big guys like us to drive our families around with us. They'll come after full sized pickup trucks next.
You know, I would love to find a low mileage '96 Buick Roadmaster collector's edition wagon. Those things just beat the socks off of any family wagon SUV for comfort and mileage.
