DEATH OF A PEACE SALESMAN (Ted Rall alert-BARF)

Bush's Palestinian Putsch

SAN FRANCISCO-Now it's official. Bush is Ariel Sharon's bitch.

When the Israeli prime minister began demanding that the Palestinian Authority jettison Yasser Arafat as its leader a few months back, even his fans knew he'd crossed the line. Israel was in no position to give the Palestinians this much advice. Sure, Bush had refused to even shake Arafat's hand, but the administration hadn't yet endorsed Sharon's ridiculous bid to beat the Palestinians by turning their leader into an Israeli puppet.

"(Washington) is not an honest broker or a neutral intermediary; it stands completely behind Israel," Hamas politburo member Mousa Abu Marzouk told Reuters in Damascus on June 10. Then, in a speech seemingly tailor-made to confirm that intifadist statement, George W. Bush dangled the possibility of American support for the creation of a Palestinian state on the West Bank in exchange for Arafat's ouster: "Peace requires a new and different Palestinian leadership so that a Palestinian state can be born," he said on June 24. Presumably that "new leadership" would be friendly to both American and Israeli interests.

Got a question for you. Let's say the Palis had the overwhelming military power that Israel has.

Let's say Israel did NOT have that capability.

Based on what Arafat and the Authority have said about killing them all, would Israel exist? Would the Palis use the unbelievable restraint the Jews have shown?

Just curious.

Sorry! But when he said, "Illegitimate and harmful though Bush obviously is..." I just KNEW someone else would post this article. Hey, with a headline that reads "Bush is Ariel Sharon's bitch", I knew the article could only go downhill from there.

If Rall and his kind are squealing, Bush is on the right track.

Here's the scoop on this guy, a bum in the finest Cambridge, MA, tradition. He deficates on society's best while banking big bucks "for the progressive cause" (his own high living).

-----------------------------------

About Ted Rall

Ted Rall was born in Cambridge MA in 1963, raised in Kettering OH and graduated from high school in 1981. His first cartoons were published in the Kettering-Oakwood (OH) Times in 1980. He majored in physics at Columbia University’s School of Engineering from 1981 until 1984, where he drew cartoons for the Columbia Daily Spectator.

In 1984, Rall was expelled from Columbia Engineering for both disciplinary and academic reasons. Giving up cartooning, he became a trader/trainee at Bear, Stearns brokerage firm and a loan officer at the Industrial Bank of Japan. He also moonlighted as a telemarketer and taxi driver.

Inspired after meeting guerrilla artist Keith Haring in 1986, Rall began posting his cartoons on New York City streets. He eventually picked up 12 clients through self-syndication. In 1990, he quit Wall Street to return to Columbia, where he graduated with honors in history in 1991. Later that year, Rall’s cartoons were signed for national syndication by the now-defunct San Francisco Chronicle Syndicate. He moved to Universal Press Syndicate in 1996...

In 1997, Universal Press Syndicate began distributing Rall’s weekly opinion column, dubbed "Op-Ed Writing for Americans Under 65"...

Rall received first place in the 1995 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards for Cartoons. The award, founded in 1968, recognizes distinguished work designed to help the disadvantaged...

It's a lot of rhetoric. They're both killing each other, so what's the point of the question?

I asked: "So just what did he say here that's untrue?"

You Replied: "Did you read the WHOLE article?

Please answer the question rather than attempting to obfuse the discussion with yet another question.

Never answer a question with another question.

I humbly take on the responsibility. I decided to ping those who had shown interest in Ted Rall articles in the past, just because his language was too inflammatory to let slide by. I'd never heard of him before today, but he seems right for his chosen role in life.

It's what he isn't saying.
Sharon doesn't want a Palestinian state. It is being forced upon him becuase the world community will allow nothing else.

Arafat's undemocratic moderation has become both too strident for the West and too soft for his increasingly radicalized people. But he's all they've got. He's the Palestinians' George Washington, a military leader striving to carve out a state which will someday stamp his googly-eyed image on its coins and stamps.

That's it. I'm inviting Ted to my next party - he's obviously got access to much better drugs than I do...

You're just mad about my uncanny ability to diagnose tranny problems...

Good to see you back - I caught what smelled suspiciously like a mini in-thread opus last week, but I'm glad to see I was wrong. ;)
