Some people may consider today to actually be day 26, but I count 1 day for each
24 hours that have passed since Elizabeth was kidnapped. Elizabeth was taken from her home
at about 1:30am on the morning of June 5th, 2002.

Short Timeline

May 30th, 2002 -Thursday
~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it
He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.

June 4th, 2002 - Tuesday
~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm
~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends

June 5th, 2002 - Wednesday
~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard
~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home
~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife.
~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today.
~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it.
~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

June 6th, 2002 - Thursday
~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm
~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)

June 8th, 2002 - Saturday
~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fix. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci
remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains
other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger tool was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes
this also from the Jeep. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag
and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since
Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.

June 14th, 2002 - Friday
~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being the 2001 robbery of the Smart Home in which he admitted to.



A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy HEATED discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come on this thread and make posts that will disrupt this thread. The best thing to do it not to bring attention to these post or reply to them.

They should have done it all that morning..everyone who was in the house..From what I've heard, there were a lot of people who came to the house which is going to disturb any and all evidence..It should have been immediately sealed off, especially Elizabeth's room.

All of what you say is possible and or probable. I'm just not going to automatically convict the guy, though, until I see some solid proof. That's all. So far, everything is circumstantial/heresay/ etc. Ricci probably will never get out of prison, as it is, regardless. The most they could do, is give him the death penalty. JG already has him tried and convicted. I just prefer to see solid proof; regardless of Ricci being a 29 year felon. By the way, I do believe in the death penalty, too. Have a good 4th.

Another thing regarding Ricci's wife..the somatose woman...anyone who's been taking any medication over a prolonged period of time, becomes immune to the meds..People who are in chronic pain build up a tolerance to the meds, thus causing the need of an increase in dosage or another med since they all act differently on different people..I think I heard it said she was taking 5-6 pills at a pop..this amt of med would knock a normal person out for the count or sleep for a month..LOL....however, anyone who's used to taking any med might not be getting ANY relief from the med..

Regarding Ricci's wife, it's possible that due to the tolerance level of the Soma, was still able to function properly and was not in a DEEP sleep. People who suffer from Fibromyalgia, back pain, etc., even though they're on meds for the same, still do not sleep well as a person who doesn't have any ailments.

A mechanic told ABC News last night, the car disappeared right before the kidnapping and didn't re-appear until two days after Elizabeth's kidnapping when Ricci dropped it off.

I think you are grasping at straws with this. The mechanic said a woman called saying it was an emergency and they needed the car. He said he asked her when he would be paid. It's quite likely the mechanic put the key over the visor or on top of the left front wheel - a common practice for small garages when their customer can't make it in before they close. The vehicle wasn't there the next morning so it "disappeared" - a word usage easily explained by his translating his native language into English.

Another point that flies in the face of some of the wild speculation on this topic, is something called a mechanic's lien which exists in Utah as well as most states. A mechanic making a repair on someones car is entitled to be paid. That is the law. If they are not paid in a timely manner, they can file a mechanic's lien with the state. If they still are not paid, the state will issue a clear title to the mechanic.

In other words, what could possibly motivate the mechanic to frame Ricci? Nothing, absolutely nothing.

I agree the cops or whoever shouldn't have invited anybody inside or touch doorknobs or anything to make sure evidence to identify the kidnapper wasn't ruined.

First he said the vehicle had an additional 300 or so miles on it, then it went up to "maybe it was 500," finally, with AB's persistence, he agreed on 1,000 miles.

I saw it too and thought it was because earlier in the day the police/FBI had issued some sort of alert saying they were looking for info on anyone who had seen Ricci's car within a 500 mile radius of Salt Lake. She was definitely leading the witness and he didn't have his records any longer to confirm or deny it. (That should be a good lesson to each of us.)

The news showed one of the neighbors that heard the noise and told the authorities..as of that interview, she said the police have NOT gotten back to her...was a blond haired women, I don't remember her name..Also said that other neighbors who heard the noise also have not heard back from the police either since they reported it either...Seems like something they'd want more information on..Also, it's only normal when someone hears a noise such as that,to get out of bed and look out the window..never know who possibly might have seen the car going by or in what direction or which way it turned..

If I were Richard Ricci, I would sure hate to have you as one of the jurors for my trial. I'm not saying that he's guilty or innocent, but you already have this guy hanging from the nearest tree! And, he isn't even an "official" suspect, nor has he been charged yet!

Oh, contrare! We have a situation where some of the FReepers on this board have speculated wildly about whodunit. Some of it is based on hard facts, but much of it based on wild speculation and/or bias. Utah Girl is "on the ground" and has done an excellent job of collecting and making available many of the things that should be considered "knowns". Unfortunately, we don't have all of the facts, but based upon the known facts Ricci is right at the top of my list and the police's list as reported in the media.

I would think the phone records could indicate if Ricci's wife called or not. If SLCPD finds she's lying about calling the mechanic (such as a call placed from their home or her office-assuming she works), she's not looking too good herself. If she is lying, I would think she's involved as well.

...Geez!.....I did see Jerry say that with the testing of 8 neighbors that the police really don't have anybody in the cross-hairs....I just wonder if their *case* against Ricci is not panning out.....
