It's a shame the feds won't allow bulldozers with 16 foot blades to
carve bigger firebreaks. I guess those are the breaks...or not.

Oh no.
Friends of mine are in Phoenix hoping to go back to their home in Pinetop soon.
Prayers heavenward <><

....16 foot blades to carve bigger firebreaks. What's 16 feet in an area of tall trees that are blazing? I don't know about Arizona, but when I lived in Washington State, 16 feet wouldn't have saved squat when the treetops are blazing!
To: Wm Bach
They said it would cause to much damage. Hello, I guess in their minds fire helps grow trees.
How come there is no screaming from the eviro wackos about the damage to the air quality from the gases relesed by these bad fires?
May have something to do with their stupid lawsuits that set up this disaster.

What's 16 feet in an area of tall trees that are blazing? 32 feet in only two passes. The story yesterday was that a miner had two of the machines ready to work in tandem delivered to the front lines only to be turned away by the feds due to concerns about them being "too distructive". Heck, two passes by a team is 64 feet according to my math.

32 feet in only two passes. Good quick comeback! I couldn't believe what I was reading in that dozer story yesterday.
You ever get so outraged that you don't even feel angry? That's what I felt reading that story.

The actual article states that this is the "largest fire in Arizona history. When I lived in Tucson, AZ, (1996) we would climb out to the edge of Mr. Lemon and you could see a whole side of a giant mountain (Mt. Graham) on fire from many, many miles away. It was amazing, but they are saying that this one is the largest in history.

The Russians sure make some big planes.
It was a Russian AN-124 that brought back our EP3 spy plane from China.

It's not the Show Low area; they're talking about those residents going home soon. The 11:30 update says it's Forest Lakes area on the NW side of the fire.
BTW, live TV news at noon AZ time here: Phoenix ABCNews 15 Live

You ever get so outraged that you don't even feel angryMore and more everyday, my friend. The good news out of all this Enviro-nazi, inept Forest service policies bs, is that the public is outraged and the worm will turn on them soon.

The story yesterday was that a miner had two of the machines ready to work in tandem delivered to the front lines only to be turned away by the feds due to concerns about them being "too distructive". More destructive than the fire? Idiots.
To: Mad_Tom_Rackham
More destructive than the fire? Well, the diesel fumes would probably prevent the spotted owl from bonding with her eggs as closely as she should.

We had a big fire in the Sierra last year because the FEDs wouldn't take state help and while they were arguing the fire took off!
