I'm thinking this one might have lost a little in translation from scientific English to Journalese. How does one "transport" a stream of photons?

Pretty sure there have been a couple threads already, including this particular story. We're looking for a more detailed account that has some science content.

"My prediction is...it will probably be done by someone in the next three to five years, that is the teleportation of a single atom I predict that the first thing to be teleported will be a Fosters!

Physicists believe quantum computers could outperform classical computers with enormous memory and the ability to solve problems infinitely faster. And required minimum hardware for future versions of Microsoft Windows...

How does this differ from what those researchers at NEC did?
They also had an experiment where a beam of light appeared to go faster than the SOL.

This would indeed be useful to round up The Crew from shore leave in ports.
Would it work to beam them back from jail cells, do you think?
That would save the nuisance it is for me to deliver bail monies, and we thus could afford better vittles for Snow Bunny to prepare.
Fred again complains about SpamSpamSpamSpam and MORE Spam.
He also wants Cobby to devise a harness with rigid pole affixed to hold an umbrella over his head while he is on his water skis.
Razorback-bert resists the idea of getting rid of using some of the Spam in his fruitcakes.

Hmm, transport a beam of light a meter away in the blink of an eye, eh? Sounds like something I could do with a flashlight! They'd better be prepared to show that this is for real, sounds a bit like the cold fusion thing of a few years ago.
However, I do believe that one day it will be done. Imagine the custom recliner you could order for Super Bowl CDXVI. It would have a transporter built into the seat, so you'd never have to get up to go to the bathroom, no matter how much beer you drank. Sort of a "transportapotty"!

In an odd way, one might wonder if todays Sci-Fi is actually the futures Sci-Fact. One could also assume that if time machines in the future actually existed, what better way to pass on knowledge. Yes, one might wonder just that if one was inclined to. :)
