As much as I respect Mr. Graham, this is stupid. The court ruling did not make it illegal for Americans to say the pledge, in public or private, on their own.Maybe he's looking into the future.

Thanks. I wonder why he hasn't done that already?

"Why this is so difficult to grasp I do not know."
Because of public-school education. ;)

Maybe he's looking into the future. If he thinks he is he's seeing phantoms. The issue here is well defined, it is not some slippery slope leading to something else.

I agree. I told my Senators (Graham and Nelson) that I was no longer going to sit back and just "take it" like I did the 8 hellish years of Clinton. I told them, "I am TIRED of being told WHAT I can and cannot do, where I can and cannot do it, and I AIN'T TAKING THIS CRAP ANYMORE! The AMERICAN PEOPLE woke up on September 11th, and they're still awake. You better do something and do it fast."
Oh...it felt so good to spout that out. I did it civilly of course, not wanting to sound like a ranting, raving lunatic.

How's this for a devil's advocate position:
If there was ever any doubt how tightly the left has this society wrapped up, the proof is on this "issue". Conservatives going off thinking to themselves that they are taking "conservative" stances, not even realizing that by doing so, they are actually conceding to about 101 liberal policies and programs in the process.
Does anyone realize that by demanding that the pledge be returned to the public schools, you "conservatives" are conceding that:
1 Public schools have a right to exist
2. Public schools have a right to make attendance compulsory
3. Agents of the state have a right to "educate" children
4. Agents of the state have the right to userp parental rights.
5. Agents of the state have the right to make parental decisions.
I could go on and on. This pledge issue is nothing but a distraction. It will make for good talk radio for a few days, but it is really irrelevant to real conservative issues in the long run.

I'm sure that did feel good, and I sympathize with the frustration, but don't you realize that this decision does NOT tell you what you can or can't do?

This court decision just shows how stupid judges can be. The Founding Fathers never envisioned a godless republic. Any judge who thinks so hasn't done his homework.

Why is anyone acting surprised by this? It is the inevitable evolution of state-sponored atheism. If God has no place on our courthouse lawns or our schoolhouse walls, what makes you think He has any place in our oaths of allegiance?
The next step is to have Him removed from our coinage. And, since the motto on our Great Seal -- annuit coeptis -- means "Heaven smiles on our endeavors, the Great Seal must be changed too, along with all 1-dollar bills on which it is depicted.
God must be erased from our culture. Just think of all the harm He has done. What place does God have in a Christian nation anyway?

You might have missed the lawyer on MSNBC who said, when asked by the anchor, "What about the US currency? Do these same two judges and the man that filed suit plan to
not use our currency because on the back it has "In God We Trust"?" Do you know what this ACLU lawyer said????
"WELL, THAT MIGHT BE NEXT."
You think this is the end of it? Wrong. The liberals will do anything to take the word GOD out of our lives if we let them. We cannot. This is OUR country. Our forefathers are probably rolling over in their graves.

I don't think I could have said that any better if I tried, so I'll just say ditto. As a southern boy, that "indivisible" part of the Pledge (among others) bothers me.

Feinstein said that she is holding the 9th Court of Appeals together and was embarrassed by this ruling. Isn't she along with Boxer the ones that kept Cong Chris Cox from being nominated to this Court of Appeals? I thought of that coming back fromt he grocery a few minutes ago.

Yes, she is.
And Dog said this guy filed suit last year to keep Bush from saying the oath at his inauguration!

"I'm sure that did feel good, and I sympathize with the frustration, but don't you realize that this decision does NOT tell you what you can or can't do?"Don't you understand that if my children were going to public school, which thank God they are not, that they would not be allowed to recite the Pledge of Allegiance? This idiotic ruling handed down today by two liberal leftist judges told this country NO MORE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. IT'S UNCONSITUTIONAL. What don't YOU understand about that???

No wonder our country is in the shape it's in. Our constitution has been trashed, our rights trampled, freedoms revoked, private property violated, and THIS is what gets "conservatives" riled up? The plegde of allegiance? No wonder they have won, and we have lost.
