THE SENATE IS ASKING FOR A RESOLUTION TO THROW OUT THE NINTH CIRCUIT DECISION RIGHT NOW ON C-SPAN. A resolution would not accomplish that.

Is recitation of the pledge a state law? I know there was a law in '54 that added "under God" to the pledge, but did it include anything other than a recommendation that it be recited in schools?AFAIK, there is not a LAW that says that the pledge should be recited; however, this may be a requirement of the individual states. I seem to remember a discussion about that a few weeks ago.
I'm sure someone can remember this one - where the conservative kid, I think he was in Santa Monica, asked one of the administrators about the recitation of the Pledge, and noted that the state required it.
I can't remember the kid's name, nor the details - he appeared on Larry Elder's show and got called on the carpet for it.

He has asked the DOJ to study a redress of this issue! But those four words "This ruling is ridiculous" will stand out far more than any legal wrangling will do.
I had on MSNBC and their first caller from SF said it was the right thing to do to remove Under God. This is perfect -- SF is going to help us Take Back the Senate!

Byrd: "The people of America are not going to stand for this."This is sooooooooooooooooo good. I mean, Daschle "proudly" stood up, blocking Bush judicial nominees. McCain even threatened it recently. Now the Democrats have to make noise to keep the American people from blaming them directly (for blocking nominees) and indirectly (because they're liberal) for this.
Sorry, guys, you're going down!

Byrd is on the floor of the Senate about ready to burst a gasket ...He is reminding every one of the great American heroes Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson but he is right that Judge is stupid.

C-SPAN. Found out through calling Dem Senator Nelson from Florida. He's as angry as Byrd. Hope you have C-span because they're all fired up EXCEPT REID FROM NEVADA. HE IS ALL FOR JUDGE GOODWIN. Nevada Freepers, Reid's kids clerked for Judge Goodwin. He's defending him!!! The Capitol phone number is listed throughout this long thread. It's an 800 number. Can't get it for you right now.

Nations that have rejected God as the foundation for human rights have historically - sucked. It's predictable -unless you have a idealistic view of human nature. Your theology is correct, and has a nice homey ring to it. :) (Couldn't resist.)

The Constitution does NOT ban religion in public places; it bans the Establishment of religion, such as the UK's official recognition of the Anglican Church or the Scandinavian countries requirement that all citizens pay taxes to support the Lutheran Church. There's a damn lot of difference between that and what this idiot "judge" found so offensive today.

Thank you for saying it.Howlin, of all people, you should know that I am not anti-GW. I was very pro-Dubya for about a year!
I am only anti-liberalism. When he acts liberal, I will smack his nose with a rolled up newspaper. When he acts conservative, I will give him a tasty Dubya-Snacky.
Today he gets a Snacky. Good Dubya! Good boy! Good conservatism, Dubya! :o)

Senator from Nevada (I'm not sure which one) expressed virtual certainty that the Ninth Circuit will reverse en banc. If the three-judge panel remanded, is it possible to move for the court to reconsider en banc?
