Charlie Daniels just made a great point on FOX. He said now there MUST be vouchers so parents can send their children to whichever kind of school they want. If this guy wants to raise his kid as an athiest, let him send his kid to an athiest school and leave the rest of us alone.Daniels is exactly right.
You hear that, Cobb County! I want vouchers for both my school age kids!

Ping me when you find it, please.
There's a huge football season coming up in a couple of months - high school and college. All California FReepers need to make sure they recite the Pledge of Allegiance loudly and strongly at each event. Make a point of going to these events and making sure they get every one involved.

I agree with you that this judge should be able to remain outside the loud and angry voices. His role is to be insulated and above criticism by the masses. There shouldn't be any political pressure on judges. You've had me fooled this whole thread. Now I see you've been writing satire all along.
Boy, is my face red...

Time to amend the constitution:
Repeal the 17th amendment - restore the selection of Senators to the State legislators
Limit Congress's ability to tax - Congress shall not tax any person, entity or business at a rate greater than 25% of income earned in whole or in part.
I also think it might be high time to reinforce the "free exercise" clause though I'm not sure how.

He is a judge. He is above public opinion and his decision is one that is not subject to review by the public. Majority does NOT rule in this country, and nor does it even matter. Making unpopular decisions is how progress is made. Our country is filled with unpopular judical decisions that advanced us as a nation--whether this is one of them, only time will tell. You're making alot of broad generalizations there, newbie...

Wrong.
A judge can be impeached for any reason our elected Representatives in the House see fit, and removed by the Senate for the same reasons. This includes foolish, activist rulings, like today's.
The Judiciary is not independent, it is interdependent.

I hope this guy's number is unlisted so Fox News can get sued. Yes Judge sue FOX news, let this story have legs. I think you should go back to DUh Uhnduground.

This really bears repeating:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism,
but under the name of Liberalism
they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist Program
until one day America will be a Socialist Nation
without ever knowing how it happened----"
(Who Said that???)Why none other than
Norman Thomas, six-time Socialist Party Presidential Candidate
and one of the Founders of the ACLU.
Like George Putnam just said: This is dark day in History. Now I have to go back and read this whole thread.

Well, there goes Salinda Lake's hope of getting the votes of
NASCAR men! This ruling will galvanize the right and atrophy the left's ability to reach out in November.

You're right. Where I come from, people are civilized and have respect for their fellow man. We respect God and his creations.
We don't harrass our fellow human beings and we don't have some high-handed morality that we blast other people with. We don't attempt to belittle others into agreement.
I'll take my small view of the world and continue on. I like it a lot better than having my "eyes open," like you.

Did I say the God of Ike? '
In God we trust is even on our money. You cannot deny that we are a nation under God.
To: Recovering_Democrat
The Pledge itself is not "unconstitutional". Requiring children to recite it in public schools is unconstitutional, only because the words "under God" were ADDED to it (in 1954 or so?) The original pledge didn't contain those words. In fact, the original pledge was written by a socialist, so I cannot understand why so many conservatives who say they want "limited gov't" would support it.
The only solution is to separate school and state, allowing people to keep their tax dollars, instead of forcing them to support teachings with which they may disagree. So... if you're a Christian, you wouldn't have to support anti-Christian, Buddhist, atheist, etc. teachings with your tax dollars. If you're an atheist, you wouldn't have to support religious teachings with your money.

"Nobody is willing to do what is really necessary to take back the Republic."One supposes that you know what is "really necessary." If it is legal, perhaps you would be willing to share it with us.
To: Recovering_Democrat
This may have already been stated in this 490+ reply thread but.....Are we also going to remove the words "In God We Trust" from American money as well. What a freaking joke.
