Liberal socialist judges would rather all of America be under the influence than under God. Pathetic.

This ruling will likely mean merely a small change to the pledge so that it doesn't affect or infringe on the rights of non-believers.

The ruling will be IGNORED!

"The pledge is socialist bs anyway. Hopefully this will be the end of it."

The phrase that makes this unconstitutional is "Under God"....

This ruling is INSANE!

Time to impeach some judges. Will America wake up or is this the definitive beginning of the end?

There is an old law school joke that says that when the Supreme Court overturns a ruling, they cite one of two reasons for doing so:

1. Precedent
2. It was decided by the 9th circuit.

I got one of those Gadsden Flags too, and G-damn it, I think I'll follow your lead.

Mine's flying at my house now. Has been since last summer.

This decision will have the half-life of a "W" key in the Clinton White House. While temporarily discouraging, the Supremes will reverse without pomp or ceremony, probably 8 to 1. The biggest beneficiary will be the President and his judicial nominees. We've been waiting for a crack-pot decision to come down and force the Dems in the Senate to run for cover. The Ninth Circuit gave us this decision on a silver platter. Strict constructionists just came back into style today.

I find it VERY interesting that our federal courts suddenly discover the Constitution when it comes to anything that can be construed to be patriotic but seem to lose the document when to comes to things like government sponsored racism other wise known as "affirmative action". To name just one of the serial affronts to our constitution.

Or as Rush just said, the American people aren't going to stand for this - if they have to they will storm the schools and recite the pledge themselves. He also said this will result in tons more Republican votes this fall. Poor timing dim/libs.

Another ruling from the 9th to get slapped down. They remind me of the bear hunter in that joke. "You don't come here for the hunting, do you?"

Thanks, - I'd sorta forgotten the 'godless commie' bit. - And look, Ike even used the 'for the children' angle.
The fifties were not called 'buttoned down' for nothing.

11:32 PDT (AP) -- The court, in the nation's first ruling of its kind, said that when President Eisenhower signed the 1954 legislation, he wrote that "millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty."

Sinkspur... ignoring a ruling like this could mean more lawsuits for public school districts and potential jail-time for teachers.

San Franciso court. I bet they say a pledge every day to the rainbow flag.

I pledge allegiance
to the rainbow flag
of the Socialist Cooperative of San Francisco.
And to the perversity
for which it stands
Many genders
under Gaia
with condoms and abortions
for all.

Many posters are pointing out that our money includes the phrase "in God We Trust", which of course establishes our money supply as theistic and therefore unconstitutional. It is only a matter of time before it is declared worthless, so my advice is to get out quick by sending your cash to me right away (just bills, no change ---Please!)
