I think its hilarious that the bitter atheist crowd has to stop others from expressing their beliefs.
The ruling in question has no bearing on whether or not individuals can express their religious beliefs and it does not even have a bearing on whether or not individuals can form collectives to express a mutually held religious belief. Half of the whining regarding this ruling is nothing more than attacks at strawmen.
Funny also that they can't stand to hear a word or concept they supposedly don't believe in.
God God God God God
Allah Allah Allah Allah Allah
Christ Christ Christ Christ
Krsna Krsna Krsna Krsna Krsna
Zeus Zeus Zeus Zeus Zeus.
I think that sufficiently refutes your assertion. If that's not good enough, I just read the above five lines out loud.

Clue: children lead the prayer in schools.

We're not gonna take it anymore! LIVE WITH IT!

And you're absolutely free NOT TO SAY THE PLEDGE. But the rest of us want our children to. I'm with you...the tyranny of the minority that is liberal judicial activism has been highlighted better in this case than anything in our lifetime.
Go Howlin Go!! ;-)

I don't have a problem with it as long as the school itself is not providing assistance for said prayers (or if it is, it is no more than would be provided for any group of students engaging in any activity). Of course, that only applies for public schools -- private schools can do as they wish.

You're not going to take what? Live with what? Pronouns are nice syntax shortcuts, but they are semantically null without context.
To: Dimensio
We're not talking about a prayer.

Ive tended to notice that people with personal identity issues tend to be the loudest critics of religion.
Its usually known as transferrence but I digress.

You're backing me? What a revolting development. :-)
To: Howlin
Uh...okay...then about what are "we" talking? You mentioned prayer, so I assumed that you weren't going to suddenly declare that it wasn't actually prayer that you were mentioning.

You're backing me? What a revolting development. :-) Hey, in a revolution, you take your allies where you can find em!! ;-)

Just don't stand behind me, okay? :-)

I'm not going to be silenced by the atheist crowd any longer. Times are changing. I'm sick of the liberal usage of incrementalism by bitter atheists to pull God from the public arena. In other words...we've had it with the hypersensitive cretins who can't stand anyone mentioning God, or the concept of God, and try to prevent the rest of us from doing so.
You can claim they aren't doing just that...but it will require you to wear blinders. I feel really good.
To: Dimensio
I didn't mention prayer. I told a joke.

Sorry, but my irony-meter somehow refuses to work propperly here on FR. I've seen so many statements which I've considered to be jokes but that have turned out to be meant dead serious. So I assume people mean what they say (at least those I don't know very well).
However, joke or not, what I said is still true.
And BTW I'm quite conservative, I just happen to lack a belief in a deity.

Gee, since you claim that atheists/liberals/liberal atheists are trying to prevent individuals from expressing their belief in a god or even mentioning the word "God" then surely you can come up with some documented cases of them making headway in attempts to do just that. Please cite specific court rulings to that effect.

The loud and obnoxious always make the most noise. The good seldom voice a complaint. However, there is only so far it can be pushed until even the most apathetic few finally speak up and say stop.
There is a balance to be struck. Is this an issue that can be debated further? Sure. But the continued cohesiveness of this nation is at stake if this kind of thing is allowed to continue.
This doesnt begin and end with the pledge. It begins with the flag being left out of schools, moves through to the pledge and ends with the founding fathers literally edited out of textbooks like a 1984 newspeak revisionist version of history.
To: Dimensio
I meant to type pledge. My mistake.
To: Howlin
Oh. Well, my response to your comment had you used the word "pledge" would have been roughly the same, with substitutions of the word "pledge" in place of "prayer".
