I didn't realize there was more than one movie with that title. WHat was the original like? Was it any good? Was it the same story?

The original Thin Red Line was made in 1964. I have not seen it, but have read that it was a pretty good film. Jack Warden plays the sergeant. Just for the record, the original was 99 minutes; the more recent stink bomb was 170 minutes. It is an excellent example of the lack of imagination and degradation of Hollywood.
