The original Thin Red Line was made in 1964. I have not seen it, but have read that it was a pretty good film. Jack Warden plays the sergeant. Just for the record, the original was 99 minutes; the more recent stink bomb was 170 minutes. It is an excellent example of the lack of imagination and degradation of Hollywood.

Not only that- The Director wanted to make the film a full six hours= with three intermisions! Can you imagine! I saw that film and was bored to tears in 20 minutes with the constant self speeches in the mind.

WRONG! That one stunk too. However, the novel (James Jones) was probably the BEST war novel ever written. An INCREDIBLE piece of writing.
