(Vanity) Explain to me why it's "OK" for Israel to have settlements on The West Bank?
My Mind ^ | June 25th, 2002 | Johnny Shear

Posted on 06/25/2002 1:20:13 PM PDT by Johnny Shear

This is an honest question, no offense towards anyone is intended...

I won't try to claim I'm any kind of scholar on the subject of Isreal Settlements but I have done a bit of research on the subject. Yet, one question still remains...

I can't justify the Isreal Settlements in The West Bank and Gaza...In my own mind, anyway...

As far as I can tell, Isreal officially justifies these settlements based on the fact that they lay claim to Gaza and the West Bank due to defeating Arab aggressors in the 1967 war. And, Isreal is still technically at war with some Arab states so they can continue occupying these areas...

What I don't understand is how they justify the settlements. Occupation is one thing (Based on protecting themselves against an aggressor) but settlements are something completely different (In my opinion, anyway).

If anyone can educate me, I know Freepers can. And as a bonus, if anyone can supply information or sources on how the Palestinians "See Things", that would be great. (In the spirit of "Two sides to every story").

Therefore there are only two ways that nations gain or lose territory: (a) conquest or (b) purchase.

With whos blood was Israel purchased? What was the quid pro quo of the Balfour declaration? How did this effect the attitudes of the Germans towards the Jews prior to WWII?

They are a "live and let live" religious people (unlike MUSLIMS).

So there ISN'T a crusade to secure a biblical "promised land" for the "chosen people" that has detrimentally effected world events since WWI and continues to threaten the planet with WWIII???

Answer these questions:

What was the quid pro quo for the Balfour declaration?

How did it affect the German peoples attitude toward Jews prior to WWII?

Was it not this attitude that caused World Jewry to declare war on Germany prior to any military aggression by Germany?

What was the role of Zionism in WWI and WWII?

Yes, oh wizard of history, please TELL us what the "quid pro Quo" WAS for the BALFOUR declaration, as well as how that impacted Germany's atitude toward Jews post WWI, and how the Jews declared "war" on the Germans before ------, etc.

Cant' wait for your erudite comments, your well-documented statements, your impeccable sources.

Will that be Visa or MasterCard?

If I research it FOR you, you will suspect my motives and accuse me of bias and selective extraction. Be aware that this is an obfuscated and obscured aspect of history, for we all know who writes history -- the victors.

If you cannot give rational explainations for German animosity towards Jews prior to and during WWII and instead offer up the charactures of reason "Germans wanted to establish a super-human race" or "Germans simply wanted the wealth of the Jews" -- if those answers are truly satisfying to you, if they really explain why a whole nation of people turned upon the Jews like magic, then you have been smokescreened.

Go find out how, for yourself.

I wish the Israelis would just take the West Bank and Gaza, throw the palis out with some small relocation stipend, and be done with it. So they catch hell politically for awhile. Who's going to do anything about it? Iraq?...not with us standing by...same for Iran. The other Islamic countries are no match for Israeli fire power. Russia is trying to make nice with the West and become a player. And I see no reason China would even care.

Like another poster said elsewhere...Deport 'em all, let God sort them out!

Jewish blood paid for the creation of Israel? What are you referring to?

You got it - there is no rational explanation for a mental disease that wasn't treated for centuries and obviously still festers in your mind just like the muslims and the eurotrash.

Why do you assume I have a mental disease? What is its name? What are the symptoms? What is the treatment?

There were black confederate soldiers too, what does that prove?

...Jordanian forces shelling Jerusalem

Tit for tat.

... blockading the Gulf of Akaba

Please enumerate the vessels turned back.

...cease fire agreement ending the 1956 conflict

Yes, the agreement that was reached after Israel attacked Egypt at the behest of the UK and France...and then refused to allow UN peacekeepers on Israeli occupied territory which led to:

...Nasser's announcement that Egypt would destroy Israel and annihilate its Jewish inhabitants as he massed his troops (and began shelling Israeli border positions) in the areas vacated by the (feckless) UN on Israel's border

G. A. Nasser moved his troops to fill the gap left by the departing UN...had Israel allowed the UN to station troops on their side of the truce line there would have been a buffer...but Israel had another plan in mind...and launched a pre-emptive strike.

...Just [to clarify] the historical record, 4 hours after he learned that the Israelis had destroyed the entire Egyptian Air Force, His Nobility Nasser called the King of Jordan to tell him in the [fictionalized] telephone conversation

... surprised you never heard about it, being the scholar you are.

Oh, I've heard it many time in the last 35 years and it is just as much bull now as it was when it first gained some legs. It is almost as good as the caveat that it can't be proved because the U.S.S. Liberty was inconvenienced.

... Would love to caht some time. Richard

Well now, Richard, I don't do chat well but if you would like to turn down the heat on the hyperbole and try to be objective, and learn some manners, I would be pleased to engage.

I totally agree---Never mind that I also agree with the Biblical mindset that it all belongs to Israel anyway. THERE ARE NO SUCH ANIMALS AS PALESTENIAN- they are all bastardized egyptians-syrians-lebanese-jordanians (who don't want them either) I will now apply my ceramic-tinfoil underwear and man my fire extinguisher....contrarian

So the German People began to Hate Jews "like Magic"? How convenient that you ignore the INVENTION of the word "anti-Semitism" in Germany in the 1800s; that you ignore the rapidly (and rabidly) rising Anti-Semitism of Germany in the 1850s through 1890s; that you conveniently ignore the rising tide of blatantly Anti-semitic (substitute "jew-hating") political parties and politicians from the 1890s through WWI, that you ignore the main theme of Hitler, MEIN Kampf,("eliminating" the Jews), and national socialism; that you ignore the wide acceptance of Jew-hatred by the German public, leading to the election of Adolph Hitler as Germany's leader in 1933.

Sure, I offered you one part of reason for the German animosity toward Jews hoping to take things one step at a time. There are many components to the things you describe, just as there are many components to the historical tribulations of the Jews.

Hyperbole is the exaggeration of an opponents argument done in order to ridicule it. You put me on some kind of omniscient pedastal and elude that I set myself there in order to chide my inexpertise.

At the start, I asked you to do your own research -- maybe you could come up with answers that differ from the conclusions I have reached and continue to explore and validate.

Instead of this I get the hate treatment. Why not simply explain your position and reasoning? I, being the great seer that I am, predict *you* will not get attacked for putting such evidence forth. You will not be slandered as *mentally ill* as I have been on this thread for merely submitting questions.

Or does this story only have one side?

Hey, Jew-hater, why don't you come "out of the closet" and give us some facts instead of nonsense replies? Surely you can give us ONE source, ONE fact, ONE specific accusation? Show us if you "got anything".

I gave you my source, and I do not "hate Jews". You want the source again? Did you find any problems with it? Was it all "nonsense" and "illogical"?

Keep this in mind, "Jews" are much more cohesive in thier defense than in thier offense. And everyone does bad things for good reasons -- even Jews.

Also, I can, and gladly do, pick a bone with virtually any religion or race or people, all have sinned. It is the sin and what motivates it, not the people- understand?
