My response was in relation to your comment that 'in all fairness, and something about free speech...as though the forum's owners set up the invitation system to control free speech.

You may have missed the subsequent posts where it was explained that "invitation only" was only during the beta testing. It will be a "free speach" site open to all in the future.

Might be a good idea to explain. Sending E Mails to registrants simply stating Please keep in mind that LibertyForum is currently an invitation only site. If you have not been specifically invited to LF, you will not be able to access the site. If you registered as the result of an invitation, you may have limited access until we verify and activate your account. doesn't explain LF's status very well.

"But that said, Liberty Forum, while not perfect, ain't half bad. Just tune out the ones you don't want to listen to - and stay off of threads where they hang out - and it's quite an enjoyable place to be."

That's right on. LF for the most part has a self-regulated Containment situation regarding posts. Some posts get NO replies or comments and that's fine. I pass by the ones I don't care to become involved on, and others do the same. Some I read just as news value.

It's right at the top of the article how many views the thread has had, like FR used to do. I particularly like that openness, it shows where folks interest are. And obviously, LF doesn't have nearly the readers that FR has.

BTW, I'm STILL unsure why Black Jade had every bit of her posting deleted from FR. I didn't notice any unreasonableness in any of it, and from what I noted when she started posting on LF, she was at a loss as well.

I do believe her total wipeout on FR chilled some very good research posters on FR, even though they have not been warned about posting any material. They just don't want to lose a lot of research work they've done.

Sweetie, I didn't write it, so I'd rather not give the definitive meanings to it. I will say I presume they thought everyone who received such an invitation would actually go there, look around, and READ at least FAQ, maybe ask a fw questions....ya can do that on those threads, too.

There was also a time when people had been invited but hadn't registered....so members were offering to write them to see if they were interested or not....I know the ones that I sent were not like this...but then I don't think they were like anybody elses' either....I just made my own letter up.

I know one person I invited made a point of asking me in private e-mail a little about protocol, and the workings. Matter of fact, when I nominated him, I had to agree to be a mentor for the first month....sort of like a big sister keeping an eye out so my kid brother wouldn't screw up.

I had nothing to worry about....this nominee was and is a real gentlemen, intelligent, able to define or defend his positions, able to provide documentation....not one to just run from thread to thread on a rant, a suck up,or a drooler, either. :)

I'm sorry you had what you consider a bad experience....I always sort of prided myself on taking care of my 'men' {ROTFLMBO--sorry, I'm a woman, and I just feel like lightning up some!}
