OK Jim, but it's their loss. In case they haven't noticed, most of the readers are conservatives and most conservatives are Freepers. They don't get posted here, they become irrelevant.
To: John Robinson
John, I know I for one will never remember all these sources that can only be linked/excerpted and not posted in full. I hope maybe you can come up with some fabulous new option on the posting page which allows people to see, there, which publications can not be posted in full. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

No pressure to join the boycott...
Thanks, Willie. I am chucking to myself because I think that even if I wanted to boycott all these sources, I would simply never remember all of them! The 'pressure' is in trying to get this entire list straight! LOL... :)

John, Maybe you can add a drop-down menu box, listing all these sources named in the settlement, so that when someone posts, and enters the source on the "Source" line in the post, the drop down menu appears first, and a person can scan the list. Well, again, just an idea...

Here is the link for AP stories at the Las Vegas Sun. I found it while trying to keep from going to the WP website that Drudge sent me to!Thank-you. But that one seems somewhat limited -- I didn't find much business/economics/stock market stories there.
See what you think about the AP at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: http://www.post-gazette.com/APwire. It seems to have a lot more AP categories to select from.

Can we not post articles at all from these publications, or can we only include just a short excerpt and link from the sources you named? As I understand it (and I havn't seen it)the consent decree says "FULL".
And while I don't think Jim and the moderators will like it (sorry Jim) that means the total article LESS ONE WORD.
But being a loyal FReeper, and since it ain't my money on the line...I'm gonna do what Jim tells me :-)

They originally wanted to allow us to use the title only. Then they relented to title and one sentence. In the final agreement it ended up that we must stay within the "meaning" of the fair use section of the copyright act. Well, court cases have been won and lost over uses ranging from a single quote to full text use. Depends on a lot of factors, not to mention the individual judge's bias (and the phase of the moon). Oh, well. I believe that under fair use, we should probably have no copyright problems if we limit ourselves to a very brief excerpt such as a lead-in or say the first paragraph. Anymore than that and we'll probably hear complaints and threats.

You and me both. I cancelled our subscription to the Chicago Tribune over a couple of years ago, and I sure as heck am NOT going to read stories via their website - especially now.

Thanks, Tonk, for the heads-up ping - much appreciated.

So much for buying Cubs tickets in the future. That's OK - I really won't miss 'em. :-)

Forgive me if I am misinterpreting this but, just by listing some of these "publications" you are giving court-ordered free advertising to something noone has heard of and most likely will never hear of again? *G* You'll let us know as the letters of commendation come in?
Thank you for taking the brunt of all of this!

Yes sir. Spreading 100% pure U.S. Gov. grade "A" donkey dung all across the fruited plains and sea to shining sea.
