You make some excellent points. When I said he was a great war president, I meant his ability to unit the country behind a cause. I, too, am concerned that not enough is being done to take the war to the enemy and protect our homeland -- including domestic drilling, profiling, etc.

I do think I am as informed as holdonnow. Maybe, or maybe not.
Why don't you let the Peanut Gallery decide.

Rudeness again. Hang in there!

Ok, let's see if I can approach this in another way. Sometimes we can agree with our president, and sometimes we can disagree with our president. When he's criticized for one thing, it doesn't mean he is being criticized for all things. Make sense?

Hah, you want logic and truth from the bush bashers......not a chance. Suddenly, they all know what's best for Israel.....
Guess they are all wishing for the good old days of 42.
To: Miss Marple
Perhaps you chat a lot with Rush and Hannity, who are not in the Beltway but are decidedly NOT in touch with a large chunk of conservatives.
M'am,
Forgive me but, I was not aware that Mr. Rush Limbaugh had lost a significant part of his normal listening audience. And given that he designs his show to appeal to some TWENTY-MILLION listeners per week, I suspect he might be more "in touch with a large chunk of conservatives" than you give him credit for.
Further Ma'm,
I think based purely on the popularity of Mr. Rush Limbaugh, he really is a pretty good example of a GATEWAY or introduction into conservativism,in my opinion. Of course, this is aside from the many times in past that I've disagreed with a stated position by Mr. Rush Limbaugh.

Your non answer tells me all I need to know. Let me say, you are one lousy puppeteer and do a disservice to your country to boot.
To: holdonnow
Certainly it makes sense. I did not agree with the education bill. However, I didn't act like it was a disaster and a sell-out, nor did I insult people who supported it.
Nice try, but I'm not buying your effort.

"Oh my gosh...you must be kidding me"...somehow I counted on you for an adult, thoughtful, reasoned, DEEP retort......how about just a small dose of common sense (something lacking in most of the head-in-the-sand-it-ain't-our-problem-they-didn't-steal-my-dope-stash club)....You say, who cares about a little strip of land...just call you when it's over....Well, let us pretend it is over and the Palestinians now have Israel's nukes....doesn't matter..YEAH RIGHT...think a little, instead of the easy cop out of claiming it isn't any of our business.

I suggest you see if you can find Arbitron ratings for the last month. My guess is that he has lost a significant chunk of his audience. The only time I listen is when there is a guest host like McCaslin, and even then not very often. There are a lot of folks here who are in the same camp as I.

Ah yes, the quote out of context approach. Reagan is loved in Israel. He rejected the 2-state solution Carter was quietly advancing -- you know, the Bush vision which he never mentioned during the campaign. Bush's father and Bush best friend James Baker were close to the Saudis (you remember them -- the 15 of 19 terrorist hijackers, and so on). And this Bush is the first Republican president to call for a Palestinian state (Clinton mentioned it only in the last weeks of his presidency). Really, you can defend Bush on the issues without trying to tear down Reagan. That's reminds me of what the Clinton people tried to do when comparing their man to Jefferson.

I like the way he treats his dogs :-)
To: OldFriend
Yes. In fact, I was right here in my office, working with my colleagues. What's your excuse?
To: holdonnow
You don't agree with Bush!!! Well, you better duck, because you're apparently not supposed to that. No I don't agree with GW, especially when he calls for a two state solution in the middle east. Last I checked there were already 23 states in the middle east. 1 Israel and 22 arab muslim states. Beyond that of course is that GW thinks he can dictate what Israel's borders look like. I guess this born again Christian never read the bible. G-d promised all of Israel from the nile river to the river euphrates to the jewish people for all eternity. Today tiny Israel is less than 10 percent the size of biblical Israel. Bush knows better? Bush says he became a born again christian after he stopped drinking. These policies make me think that he is still drinking. Oops time to read the book of Zechariah. All the nations of the world shall gather against Jerusalem (Israel)..G-d will step in at the last moment and destroy all the nations that oppose Jerusalem ....That includes us.....
I don't need to duck. I am a proud right wing nut
To: holdonnow
Why do you think it "tearing down Reagan" by stating facts?
To: Dane
Actually, you're both.
To: holdonnow
Would you be so kind as to reply to post 709. Then tell me exactly what President Bush is doing that is different than President Reagan in regard to Israel.
To: Yehuda
I will use your technique the next time door to door missionaries come knocking at my door. Please go the Mosque out on Pueblo and recruit. They need help!
To: kristinn
I assumed it was something like that. :-)

And herein underscores the problem. "Bushbashers?" People who question the president on a position are "Bushbashers?" You're better than that, no?
