Bush know this, he is leaving it up to the palis and arabs to blow it. Cards are on the table!
To: Freedom'sWorthIt
He came out fully loaded. Did you notice when he wanted to make a particular point, he looked dead-on into the camera? LOVED it. He was very light on Israel. I thought for sure he'd be much harder on them. I am so pleased. This was all about the Palestinians making choices: either you want peace and life, or you want terrorism and death.

You posted,
You've got to rack the balls before you run the table... Great! I haven't heard that since my days of youth hollering "Rack them!".
To: RCW2001
Big carrot, little if any stick.
Sounds like a great CARROT for the Palestinians give they form elections.
What is the STICK that the U.S. will commit themselves too?
Ask yourselves what is the result when this soft overture (once again) fails?
And I thought the Paletinians already violated conditions for 242, etc.
Talk ... talk.

You know, Howlin, he just might do it and get that Peace Prize!!! LOLOL!! Sure would piss off Clinton if he did .. LOL

Bush is a traitor. This is uncalled for. I would expect this sort of comment over at DU not here.
He has given into terrorism.
Calm down, please explain what part of his speech gives you that impression.
I didn't hear anything in his speech that would make me agree with your statement.

Pressterrorists speak again.
To: flamefront
Already major dissent from the Palestinians: "Arafat is our elected leader and will not step down."
To: RCW2001
I swear both accounts you have posted are using completely 'SPUN' headlines that are so misleading, that unless you watched the speech, you'd think he wanted a Palestinian state tomorrow.
To: Howlin
Because he has given them THE choices they HAVE to make to GET a state. If they don't come along, they are NOT going to get a state. They can choose now. Was this a mystery before today? Is THIS what has been the missing piece in the centuries of Middle Eastern violance? I don't think so.
It was a very good speech, to be sure, but in the end, it's just more words that will probably be ignored. IF the terrorism stopd because of this speech, then I will hail it as the great piece of statesmanship that it would be. WHEN it doesn't, what will we do? That was not outlined in the speech (unless I missed it... I did run to take care of the dogs for a second). He made no promises in that vein to follow through on.
So how will some more rhetoric be regarded by the devout Jihadists? It will be ignored. This was a speech directed at the Middle East, but intended for American consumption, IMHO.
To: Howlin
I just wonder if Bush thinks or knows that this is for the most part unobtainable because of the mind set of the Palestinians and most Arabs. He is stating our position, drawing the lines in the sand. Heres your chance, show us what you got or DIE in your terrorist ways.

Saeb Erekat is on MSNBC, just babbling the same Palie talking points (including Yasser being democratically elected). My eyes are rolling, Big Time. Erekat doesn't realize his days--are well as Yasser's--are numbered.
Oh, & he just said, they've "been negotiating with Israel for 10 years & we need to start where we left off."
I punctuated this statement with yet another eye-roll.

Suicide bomber is a much better term.
If a Muslim places a satchel filled with explosives in a bus station and it kills people, he is a homicide bomber, even though he was miles away when the blast occured.
"Suicide bomber" best catches the insanity of the Jihadist mindset.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I do remember him specifically mention 1967.
