Well, I myself was quite
malcontent with the policy that flowed out of the Powell mission -- so I'm not one to cast aspersions upon those who disagree with Bush here (I've disagreed at times with his policies myself).
But Bush has clearly moved a long ways from the Powell mission's adjunct policy -- in the right direction in my opinion.
Palestinian rejection (a certainty, I think) allows now for open support of the U.S. for Israeli war against the terror institutions in the West Bank and Gaza. I consider this very positive.
Many have said here that Bush, in this speech, is still appeasing terror in the Middle East. I disagree. If this is appeasement, it is appeasing while pointing a cocked pistol at their head, and giving the choice of surrender now, or surrender after the trigger is pulled.
Bush did well today. And I haven't always said so before regarding the middle east.

I cannot wait to see the entire speech posted. Also, he talks about how if a democratic government will succeed in the West Bank, then it will give hope to millions of oppressed people. Then he went to talking about democracy flourishing in Islamic countries. (Saudis must be a bit nervous.) Then he made it plain that ANYONE in the region who aids terror is on the enemy list.
Talked about Palestinians haveing a CONSTITUTION and we will AUDIT any moneys and apparently he has the World Bank and the EU on board with this.
You know, Howlin, he just might do it and get that Peace Prize!!! LOLOL!!

Let the PA people watch Arafat DENY them a state.
As they says, "Arafat has never missed a chance to miss an opportunity."

If the war on terrorism was blury..it just got focused by todays speach...
Wow!!..The President laid it right on all those who are "Screwing" around..and named them.
Iran..Syria..Iraq,Hizbullah,Hamas,Islamic Jihad.
There's a whisper of intent here by this...Democracy is the Hallmark for nations and nationbuilding, for commerce..and for personal freedoms.
Democracy will not yeild to the spirit of Islamic demand!

You mean Yasser didn't want his people to hear the President's speech? Well, well, well....this won't score any points in Bush's book.

You leave that open so you can do what needs to be done. Kind of like dire consequences. Sounds bad, could be bad, should be avoid at all cost.
To: Delbert
I agree with you 100 percent. Then there won't be anybody screaming for Bush to "hold Israel back," will there?

Wolf Blitzer just said that this was an overwhelmingly pro Israel speech and the Israeli government should be extremely pleased with this speech.Guess he hasn't gotten the talking points from David Gregory and Helen Thomas, yet.

Scott,
I read that the division was Cheney/Rumsfield versus Powell. I think Cheney won. There is no Palestinian state until they act like they are human being and not animals. And the head animal has got to go. Period.
If the Palestinians say no... then, Bush is free to move as he wants.

I have laid before you today both life and death.
Therefore, choose life.

Jennifer Griffin just mentioned that the President's speach was not aired in PalI suppose they aired Mickey Martyr cartoons instead.
Seriously, that sounds ominous. Our media were (and still are) convinced that Bush was going to offer a Palestinian state, but the Palis appear to have believed all along that he would NOT and so did not want anyone to hear the speech.

It's always best to WAIT and hear what this man has to say himself.
He smacked the PA today -- and knocked the CRAP out of the press.........love it!
