Saylor told of four boys who were molested in a basement in Altoona, and how the diocese warned a priest to leave the state that night and then allowed him to come back and stay in the diocese. I grieve for so many boys who have lost their faith in God. These sex-obsessed priests probably gave little thought to their clerical duties. Their minds were plotting their next conquest, probably even during masses, weddings, and funerals.

These men were not just sick and not just sinful: they were evil. Has anyone noticed how, in many of these allt-too-graphic accounts we're reading these days, the priests not only sodomized the boys but did so in a way that would be particularly perverse and evil? That is, raping them on the altar, or making the boys do things to them while the priests were were fully vested, etc.
There's real evil here; Satan is definitely here. And the bishops simply ignore him, or have been bought out by him.
We need more than just lawsuits and jail time to clean this out. I think the Church needs serious prayer and fasting, and a major housecleaning.
Call it a new Inquisition if you will, but that's what I think is needed now. Strip away the hiding places of the Evil One, who has crawled in and is nesting in the most sacred places of the Church.
Sorry to sound so apocalyptic, but I am becoming more and more convinced that this is simply about sheer evil.
