Freepers: We have our country to save. We must win control of the US senate.
In 1998 with less than 1/4 the Freepers we have now, we impeached a president. ( The House Managers said without FR it never would have happened.)
Retaking the senate ought to be a breeze for this crowd. We must do this if we are going to get our judges confirmed.
Grab your friends, relatives, coworkers and anyone else with a warm body and a brain and start a chapter. Anytime two or more Freepers get together you are at least informally a chapter. JimRob says with five you can be formally a chapter. Get vocal, stand on street corners, wave signs. It is fun. Ask anyone who has done it.
Diotima and the Free Republic Network has a plan that makes it easy. You can be the newest Free Republic chapter leader
Every town of 100,000 needs at least 10 chapters. A city of a million should have 100 chapters. Okay I'll settle for one per block. : )

Once you get your crowd together , get behind your Republican Senate candidate and make sure he wins.

I like FR, but I doubt it has anywhere near the influence that you or your urban legend about the House Managers would indicate.

Oh, goodie! Another thread for B. A. Conservative, sneakypete, and others to decry the candidacies of Greg Ganske, Lamar Alexander, Elizabeth Dole, Wayne Allard, and others. Thanks, BADJOE!

BadJoe, far be it from me to pour cold water on a legitimate effort of political activism--I do think we shoud do all that we can to influence our fellow citizens to vote as we believe they should--but isn't it a bit presumptuous to conclude that 20,000 folks--mostly lurkers--on an Internet website are responsible, at least in significant part, for the impeachment of Bill Clinton?

Good idea! My state is doing an outstanding job in the Senate, but we need to do some House cleaning by tossing out Moore.

I agree. FReepers are great for assembling protests ("Get out of Cheney's House!"), but the House was controlled by the GOP-- and most were elected since the 1994 tsunami and were quite conservative. They'd have pursued it anyway I think.
I still think a censure of Clintoon would have done more good for the GOP in elections in 1998 and 2000 than impeachment. Democrats would have supported it and Clintoon couldn't have claimed to have been a victim of the VRWC. His job approval ratings jumped when we impeached him and hurt his popularity none. His personal (and later job approval) popularity lowered because of Monica and then because of pardongate after he left office. Impeachment was a net political benefit for him. It backfired-- with the losses of Rogan and Dickey in 2000.
A Dec. 10, 1998, Gallup Poll showed 63 percent of Americans said the House Judiciary Committee should not recommend impeachment of Clinton to the full House.

I believe we made a huge difference during the 2000 perpetual vote counting spectacle.

Of course after they ate at the liberal media table.
Thank God the House Managers had the guts to kick Billy's ass for him.

Too bad the Senate Republican's were such wimps. I still can't believe how they ended the trial before it even began.
