Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, “I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.”

This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?

Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.

Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasn’t too surprised.

Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinson’s response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.

It’s escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.

This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.

They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.

And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.

There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that it’s one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal “immigration free for all” must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

Not generally, and I'd certainly prefer the states show some common sense in the matter. However, since giving Illegals a drivers' license really aids and abets their lawbreaking, it seems that in this instance, a limited federal involvement is appropriate.

You're preaching to the choir on the matter of Illegals. In a non-PC world, an outraged populace would force politicians who'd give DLs to Illegals to resign in disgrace.

But we don't have that world, and I think there is legitimate Constitutional authority for the FedGov to prohibit DLs for Illegals.

However, even if I stipulate to that, the result is that Senators are accountable to the party leadership and do toe the line, which is not significantly different than them being beholden to the party bosses.

So the worst case is no change from what we have now, and the best case is that the Senators become more responsive to the concerns of their state.

Plus, you get all of that money that would have been used to directly influence the Senators via campaign contributions now made to indirectly influence at worst (if as you say it would just get pushed down locally) or out altogether at best (which could happen if the cost of trying to buy all of the people needed in the state legislatures with campaign donations was too much to even try).

Several on this thread and others stated that all the terrorist from 9/11 were in our country legally. This is not true, as several of the them were in our country illegally. That's a fact. One can throw up smoke and make wild statements that may fit your agenda, but that real facts remain.

Well, not so sure I agree with that document. Starts out saying that the feds and state can prosecute a person for the same offense and that would not be double jeopardy. I doubt that was the founders intent. Furthermore, I doubt that the founders ever intended for the feds to have all these federal crime laws and conflicts of jurisdiction in the first place. And it uses Social Security and health care issues as examples. These liberal/socialist programs are clearly unconstitutonal at the federal level. Then skimming down, I see it goes into food stamps and whatnot. I didn't read much further. Looks like a bunch of liberal propaganda to me.

Once a senator is elected, he/she practically has the job for life

This is true for large states only. The reason is that to run statewide in CA, NY, PA, etc. costs 10-80 million dollars. An incumbent senator can raise fund for 6 years by doing a few favors. A challenger usually can only raise funds for 1-2 years. How many guys can say "I'll be running for senate 6 years from now, would you contribute ?". The challenger simply can not compete in big states. In a smaller state like SD, DE, etc. , challengers can win using person to person campaigning.

Nothing I said should be construed to mean that I favor illegal immigration. I merely attempted to explain why I think so many government officials appear to want to ignore it, and why I think it's going to happen even if they don't.

It obviously frightens people that large chunks of our geography will soon enough have a majority population that is not white European in origin. Imagine how much it frightens the white Europeans. It's happening to them, too, and their immigrants are Moslems.

We have these really nifty economies that create lots of jobs, but we're too busy to bother replacing ourselves with children. Something will fill the void... something always does.

People can put guns at the border if they like, but I don't think that will stop it. That giant sucking sound you hear is a people-vacuum.

Does that mean because you were born white, you own this country ? Your birth right included the right to own slaves ? Do you still want that ? If you claim special rights because you are descendant from the founding fathers, I think you need to admit that you owe reparations to the blacks.

Thanks for the ping. Re #39, That echoes my opinion on the 16th and 17th, but I also include the 14th and 15th. IMO, those four amendments set aside the original design for our form of government.

The states have never delegated their power to control immigration. Immigration has been used as a tool for demographic change since it was siezed as a federal power. The 14th claims that citizenship is federal. The 15th declares the privilege of voting to be a right. The two of those together give us the situation we have now with illegals being allowed to flock into California and other states and also being encouraged to vote in our elections. We see the chairman of the DNC ranting that voting is an unalienable human right which can't be infringed by asking for ID. His reason for making this absurd claim is very transparent: the democrats are using illegal aliens' votes to win where they don't have the support of US citizens.

Sure, liberal control is central to our problems, but liberal control is being cemented in California by allowing huge numbers of Mexican nationals to vote illegally in our elections. Illegals gave Gore California with illegal votes. I'm convinced of that.

Immigration isn't a separate, distinct issue. It's tied to many other issues and has raised several, such as the issue of vote fraud, to crisis level.

respectfully, I'm rather dissapointed to hear that, considering if it weren't for our loose immigration laws, the 9/11 terrorists, might not have had such an easy time of carrying out their plans.

joe hadenuf and the other anti immigration people are mostly talking about kicking out the mexicans. 9/11 is irrelevant to them. If 9/11 had not happened, they would still be saying the same things and so would you.
