You asked for a summary of the NE article. Here's what it said:
Police probing the mysterious abduction of 14 year old Elizabeth Smart have made a discovery that's rocked them to the core - a shocking gay sex scandal involving her father Edward and two uncles, The Enquirer has learned exclusively.
Beneath the family's respectable facade authorities are unearthing horrendous facts that will forever change the devoutly religious city of Salt Lake, and perhaps explode the case wide open.
Shortly after Elizabeth's disappearance, police conducted a search of the family mansion.
And the Enquirer learned there was a lot to hide.
1.The police confiscated Edward's computer - and found several explicit pornographic homosexual pictures on the hard drive.
2. During one search of a family member's home, police found a horrifying journal alleging the mind-boggling activities of all three brothers.
3. It contained explicit allegations of homosexual activity concerning Dave, Ed and Tom, including preferences for sadomasochism.
4. Ed and his wife were reportedly having marriage problems.
5. Tom's computer showed attempts at deletion, but more than 100 pages of gay porn were retrieved.
Maybe Elizabeth threatened to tell someone about dad and uncles...at fourteen is not uncommon to spout off when angry.
Missing the harp concert...was the school notified she would be late, or did they just not show up. Would be nice to know if an announcement was made to the gathered families.
With grandfather's funeral and the school stuff...big stressors in the family.
Or could she have contacted some type of service to abused women who put her in hiding ?
Our 13 y/o daughter doesn't watch the news but since we have Fox on most of the time in our bedroom, she'll hear things in passing. Out of the blue the other day, she asked me if Elizabeth Smart's dad was gay. I asked why she thought that, and she said he sounded gay to her. The next time I saw him on TV, I had to admit that he indeed sounded like he was homosexual. Something about this feels all wrong to me, just like Westerfield being railroaded for Danielle's murder. It's just sick.
Sounds like there was a lot of detail in the article. This would be a huge lawsuit for the extended family if not true. I am going to assume it is true.
Very sad.
