Fraternal Order of Police Endorse Governor Bush

MIAMI BEACH - The Bush-Brogan 2002 campaign is pleased to announce the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). The announcement was made today during the FOP's 53rd Annual Meeting in Miami Beach. The FOP represents more than 22,000 law enforcement officers throughout the state of Florida.

"Public safety has been and continues to be a top priority for the
Bush-Brogan Administration," Bush said. "I am both humbled
and grateful to have the endorsement of the FOP."

"During his first term, Governor Bush has shown an unwavering commitment to the men and women in uniform," FOP President Philip Cameron said. "Governor Bush has shown that he is tough on crime by implementing laws like 10-20-Life, making Florida a safer place, and serving as an advocate for Florida's public safety workers."

The Bush-Brogan Administration is strongly committed to Florida's law enforcement officers:

· Fulfilling a 1998 campaign promise, Governor Bush signed the Police and Firefighter Pension Act (House Bill 261) into law in 1999, improving retirement benefits for Florida's public safety officers. This was his first bill to sign into law as Governor.

· In 2000, Governor Bush signed into law Senate Bill 94, which increased disability payments for special-risk officers by 23 percent.

· This year, Governor Bush has signed several bills into law to aid Florida's law enforcement officers including Senate Bill 108 which provides workers' compensation benefits for law enforcement officers for injuries sustained while performing their job responsibilities while off-duty or outside their regular jurisdiction. Senate Bill 176 and House Bill 1357 increase educational and death benefits for children and families of law enforcement officers who are killed in the line of duty.

The Fraternal Order of Police was the latest public safety organization to endorse Governor Bush's candidacy, and is the second in a series of endorsement announcements to be made by the campaign. On June 3rd, Bush received the endorsement of 16,500-person strong Florida Professional Firefighters.

You know, I think this is why FL politics is so amusing at times. Here we have (a) a capable governor, Jeb Bush, running against all sorts, including bozos, clowns, you name it. And, we still have to wonder who will win it! After all, this is FL.... LOL...

LOL....I have to tell you -- it was the one moment I admired those posters. Because they were basically saying: the H*LL with the LOSER DEM FL GOV CANDIDATES WE'VE GOT (which is what I say too). LET'S GET OUT THERE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR BOB KUNST!

I thought: Hey, this Bob will actually get a few votes here! And, if the Dem Party makes him stay in the parking lot again, he may pick up even more votes! (Good for him!)

My only fear on this point is massive voter fraud on the part of the 'rats. They tried it in the presidential election and it almost worked for them, much too close for my comfort.

I know some changes have been made to make that more difficult, but those unscrupulous members of the dem party have a lot of experience in rigging elections, and I'm not sure that the new measures can put a stop to it completely.

'this is why FL politics is so amusing at times.'

Florida politics has been wacky ever since the Spanish 'greeted' the Huguenots at Matansas Creek. How about Napoleon Broward, who got arrested for smuggling to Cuba, and claimed he was helping the Cuban Freedom Fighters. This was not true, but shows that the effect of that island on our politics is not new. In any case, Broward rode his 'heroism' into the Governor's mansion. All of Florida history is full of knaves like him, and Reno for that matter.

We'll see.. I think the new legislation, funding, new equipment, and other changes -- thanks to Gov. Bush's leadership -- will ensure a fair election.

Yes, I often thought of Florida history as being very much like a study of Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Great! Thank you so much, backhoe. BTW, I know I posted the article about the FL Dem state party fundraiser where Kunst was forced to stay outside, and I wish I could remember the title of that article.... if I think of it, I'll post a link on this thread and let you know. Thanks again! :)

Oh, they're writing complaints now, before the election. It gets tiresome, especially when FL really went all out to reform the system, to the point where Al Gore publicly praised it.

Since Gov Bush is GW's brother, maybe Jeb's campaign should come up with a button like this one, with a photo of Gov Bush and text saying: "Our favorite brother" Or, is that going to upset anyone??? I ask that politely. Because I think it would be a good button.

By all means, let me know if you find it, and I'll send it out. I send 1-3 emails per day, so if it doesn't get in this one, it will be in the next one.

I'm sure Bob Kunst would love to have the publicity -- if you email him (see his link on my politics1 link above), and ask him which town/article, I'm sure he'll remember! It was quite amazing to me -- because some Dems always try to accuse Gov Bush of denying people of free speech, yet, here's the FL Dem Party leaders, making Bob Kunst, a FL gov candidate, stay outside in the dark, in a parking lot, while they collect the money and have dinner in a country club. It was horrible to read that.

And, here's the letter Bob Kunst wrote to Jeb, as linked above (click on link for the reply):

Dear Jeb:

Well the stuff is hitting the fan big time and will get bigger. As you know I'm traveling the state saying that ENRON paid for the "STOLEN ELECTION" and the public is already there on this matter. Remember when you waved at me and my signs when you and "W" were in Daytona recently? In addition, ENRON'S position of adding 57 power plants in Fla. to export energy while charging the taxpayers, as they did in Calif, leaving the taxpayers in debt for $50 billion, is also another issue for you to digest that the public is already aware of, and angry about.

Now there's the question of the media hiding you, "W"'s and Cheney's 'political' attention to ENRON in return for buying influence, which will eventually come out, as well as those who made a bundle by investing in ENRON and not just taking contributions from ENRON.

It's all getting very interesting.

Yours Faithfully,

Bob Kunst

An American Patriot, Loyal Dem. and Fla's Next Gov.
