Bill Clinton Formulating Secret Plan to Defeat Bush & GOP in 2002
US News and World Report ^ | July 2, 2002 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 06/22/2002 11:04:36 AM PDT by codebreaker

Making the rounds at Democratic fundraisers, former President Clinton has begun to articluate a way for the loyal opposition to attack the popular President Bush in the fall elections.

It boils down to this: Terrorists win if they shake up Washington so much that the administration diverts money needed for critical domestic programs to the war.

And guess what? Clinton said Bush was doing just that.

If it sounds familiar, it is.

Clinton made the same charges in 1992 when he beat former President Bush, claiming that the then President was too much of a foreign policy leader and a zero at home.

He laid out his battle plan this week at a Senate Democratic fundraiser hosted by powerhouse Washington lawyer Weldon Latham.

This strategy might work until the NEXT major terrorist attack. Then, the GOP can simply say our attempts to improve homeland security were derailed by the Democrats who wasted the money on the NEA, PBS/NPR, and medical care for illegal immigrants. And, by the way, this strategy was developed by none other than Bill Clinton.

Sounds like the formula for another Republican landslide to me...Clinton has always been one of our most effective weapons...

Duty and honor. I don't know where you've been the last 20 years but those virtues are strictly rationed today.

You'll find most of it in the military. Some is still sprinkled within in our police forces and fire depatments.

Duty and honor ran out in the senate when they failed to remove Clinton from office.

Duty and honor ran out in our courts when OJ was aquitted.

Duty and honor is a poison to the likes of McKinney, Clinton, Daschle, Leahey, Lieberman, Waxman, Kennedy, Frank, Biden, Waters, Jackson-Lee and countless others.

Throw in Lott, Shays, King, Snow, McCain and Specter to boot.

Duty and honor ran out when congress denied oil drilling in the ANWR, when a hate murder became worse than a “plain” murder.

The bar has been dropped so low that a rat can skip over it.

It's tough to have seen the best, knowing the worst will come in my lifetime.

Yep the accusations will be there, no doubt about it. But will those accusations sit with the independents or will they reject them and thus help in the re-election. It's not about what the dems will think or do so much is it is about the indies, imo.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds

Why get up, why get up
How can I get up, why should I get up
This whole world's gone crazy
Think I've seen enough
I'm gonna sleep forever why get up

Phone keeps ringing right off the hook
Some bill collector, I know what cooks
Think I'll stay in bed, dream all day
World outside bugs me anyway
When I get things going, the going gets rough
So I ask myself why get up

Chorus

Went to the doctor, he said lose some weight
If you don't do it quick, we'll have to operate
I talked to my lawyer, he said case is closed
That woman got it all even the garden hose
Staring at the ceiling thinking just my luck
Better roll back over why get up

Chorus

Well I can't quit drinking, I'm nervous all the time
When I wake up, it's like a ton lead on my mind
What was it, I said to that girl last night
She really got upset, I best stay out of sight
I remember a gun and calling somebody's bluff
I better duck under the cover why get up

:-D! Hilarious! Bill Clinton actually thinks he is relevant today...he has no bully pulpit, and he has no credibility anymore (as if he ever had any!).

Go for it, slick Willie. I hope your fellow 'rats follow you into the sewer. You'll eventually bring the whole party down even lower than your own lost legacy. It'll be fitting political epitaph: Bill Clinton: Unsatisfied and Unsatisfactory.

Latham is a black lawyer who specializes in "diversity". As one wag put it discussing his modus operandi, unlike Jessie Jackson, he has a law degree.

I tend to agree, this is not a big stretch. Bush intends to pulverise the Dem. opposition so he can complete 8 years of seeing this war well on its way. He is serious about seeing this through.

His only claim will be after this election was that he was final defeated by a real Republican who fought him street to street and house to house. Bubba can formulate all he wants but he is still going down!!!

I hope Clinton is Successful. George Bush is more Clinton that Clinton.

Why just hope? If you really want it, send the DNC a contribution. And be sure to vote Democrat in the next election. Or were you just being pithy?

"It boils down to this: Terrorists win if they shake up Washington so much that the administration diverts money needed for critical domestic programs to the war."

Is he advocating that we NOT spend money on the war????

I assume that the Democrats recognize that this is a very high-risk strategy.

Given the President's ratings and his willingness to pass liberal bills, what other choice do they have but a risky ploy?
