Attorney slain in 100 North Main parking garage June 21, 2002
An attorney was shot to death just before 9 a.m. today as he was getting out of his car on the fourth floor of the parking garage of the 100 North Main Building.
Early reports said he was shot four times by a well dressed man sporting braids.
The shooter then fled on foot and got onto a Memphis Area Transit Authority bus.
I KNEW IT!!! :-)
You don't give the engineers much credit do you? The design specifications included the structure should withstand the impast of a B-707. The reason for having a sprinkler system was to protect the structure from a catatrophic event, such as the impact of a jet aircraft. Redundancy in design would have negated the impact of the aircraft, in my opinion.
Please consider that three years of planning was but in the mission to bring down the towers. If that is the plan and the mastermind of the attack is an engineer, is it a stretch to consider that the plan included sabotage of the sprinkler systems that helped minimize the destruction of the 1993 attack by the same people? These folks learned from their first failure.
But which tenant hired Sakher 'Rocky' Hammad, 24, to work on its sprinklers is lost, said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Alan Hicks on Friday.
Hammad told federal authorities that he was working on the sprinklers six days before the twin towers were brought down by terrorists, court testimony revealed this week.
But Hicks said the Port Authority, which owned the building, did its own sprinkler work, and that any other work involving sprinklers would have been arranged by an individual tenant.
If you were a building owner, would you allow your tenants to modify the fire sprinklers? If not, how did they get entry into the building's mechanical areas? Building Security would have had to let them in and they would have called for authorization. Sorry, all of that sounds VERY fishy.
From a 9/20 Newsday story about two of the victims:
Barbella began working for the Port Authority 29 years ago. He was a general maintenance supervisor at the time of the attack, an authority spokesman said. He worked in a variety of sites over the years, landing at the Twin Towers about 10 years ago.

I understand your point but it is almost the same as if I told you I hit a tree in my car at 40 mph and the seat belt failed and you responded, "Wouldn't have anything to do with hitting that tree, would it?"
Bingo. The sprinkler system is an integrated system;therefore, it is unlikely a single tenant could bring in un-licensed plumbers from a company in business for less than 18 months that was not listed in the phone book to work on a system critical to the safety of the entire tower.
Just going by what I've seen the engineers say regarding the attack.
impast of a B-707
Which didn't weigh as much as the fully loaded aircraft that hit the buildings...according to the engineers.

Find me a sprinkler system that can deal with the amount of Jet-A which was suddenly introduced into the structure via airliners travelling at high speed.
I still wonder though if the death of Dr. Wiley was caused by Arab terrorists. Seems that there was a spate of unusual deaths of microbiologists from around the world.
I saw on a video from another station that Friedman was a local "expert" etc. on cases. I'd bet that's the implication, rather than he represented one of the Drivers' License scammers.
Check out `Robert Friedman Tailwind'
He represented two of the Special Ops guys who sued CNN. For history, just type "Tailwind" into the FR search engine.
The 20th hijacker, Mr. Moussaoui, had an African-American roommate in OK named Mr. Menepta. Mr. Menepta was born Melvin Lattimore in St. Louis and converted to a radical form of Islam and associated with groups advocating violence against the U.S. government. In court testimony, Mr. Menepta was connected to the OKC bombing and the 1993 WTC bombing.
I don't think we can rule out a Middle Eastern/ militant Islamist connection merely because the shooter was an African-American, based on Mr. Menepta's example.
What would an investigation into the un-licensed Middle Eastern plumbers working on the sprinkler systems in the WTC days before 9-11 hurt, considering the Middle Eatern plumbers are known criminals?
