Congress calls for leak investigation: Presidential reprimand moves representatives to action

This in incomprehensible to me that a member of Congress leaked this information after Senators Graham and Shelby, and Reps Goss and Pelosi guaranteed there would be no leaks.

If I was with the CIA or any other Intelligence Agency, the United States Congress would be the last people I would want to brief.

I cannot believe they cannot even get through the first hearings without a leak by Congress. I say the Senator/Rep who leaked this should be prosecuted and removed from office!

You'll note, of course, that there was no suggestion that all members of the Committee and staff take lie detector tests. Or that the DOJ haul the reporter recipients of the leaks before a Grand Jury to inquire as to their source and let them contemplate answering in jail. In short, nothing effective. But, it makes the Congress critters look good.

Wouldn't rule out lie detector tests yet. With Goss livid as reported by Mitchell on MSNBC and a former CIA officer, I don't expect this one to just go away. The leaders of the two Committees promised this Administration that there would be NO leaks!

My guess on leakers: Alcee Hastings or John Edwards. Or their staff.

I hope it is Edwards, as I would like to see him hung out to dry.

If a Senator is removed from office (I know .... I'm just dreaming here!) is he/she replaced before the next election? A replacement appointed by the Gov? Can you say Erskine Bowles? YIKES!

I would have been more surprised if there hadn't been any leaks. The qualifications for office are minimal, and there have been plenty of districts that have elected rogues, idiots, or criminals. Heck, we've even voted them into the Presidency!

The question is whether we want to give a President the ability to keep secret from Congress information relating to National Security.
I'd give it to this one, but what if hillary was elected next?

I believe Alcee Hastings was removed from the House intel committee a couple of months ago.

I almost freaked out when I saw Hastings mentioned but he is not a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence.

In looking at the Committee members it is fairly easy to rule out folks. Would look for someone that appears on CNN a lot and that to me also appears to be Edwards.

Was impressed with the reporting by Andrea Mitchell on this story -- she was genuinely upset that someone from this Committee had leaked.

Here's the beauty of this one: the FBI, who is being investigated by this committee, will now be investigatining -- tada -- THIS COMMITTEE...........har!

I must have missed Hastings being removed. Thank goodness!

Then my bet is Edwards. I thought the leak to the Washington Post last fall was probably his. It would be just the sort of thing he would do to show how important he is.

The White House needs to "give false info" to a variety of Reps. and Senators....alll different "TIDBITS" and then wait and see which one or ones are leaked to the media and BINGO, you'll find the TRAITOR!!
