I've seen Sharon White-Skaggs husband Ricky in Concert at least 4 times over the years. He has the best Bluegrass musicians in his band.

Don't know if you saw this...FReeper Humidston (IIRC) wrote a note to Charlie Daniels via his web page complementing him on his latest patriotic song. He sent her a new CD that included the song!!

Also, IIRC, Free Republic came up in the exchange of notes or in the thread talking about her experience.

CD is an OK kinda guy, isn't he?

It doesn't hurt now, but I did have to apologize for screaming a cuss word. I don't feel well either Clara. I don't know what's wrong with me. My husband is so sweet to put up with my belly aching. I would have smacked me by now.

I'm glad to hear your uncle is buried in Arlington. It's a beautiful, special place. It's my favorite place to visit when I go to Washington. For your uncle...

Speaking of libraries! I have been wondering about something, and I need to find out if anyone knows about a "proper procedure" for something?!

I have some books that I want to donate to the public library back in Galva, Illinois, where I grew up. I want to sign them (I have stories in them), and was wondering if there are stickers, or stamps, or something I should use to do that?? I don't want it to be an ugly scrawl (which my handwriting is, for the most part, but I'll have to do the best I can with my signature.)

Does anyone know the proper procedure for such a thing? Or where I might begin to look to find out the proper procedure?? I use the internet for everything, but I suppose I could call the local library and ask the librarian there. Although that would be rude, don't you think? "Excuse me, but I'm donating some books to another library, and I need your help. . . ."

Nope, too rude. HELP?!

BTW, LifeSavers popsicles are the best!! Oh yes, and purple won!! Purple M&M's!! Finally!! Yay!!!!

Thanks, everybody!!

Love ya, and God bless!!

Penry committed premeditated murder. Retarded individuals can't plan that carefully. He butchered poor Pam Carpenter. It just makes me sick. I hate crime. I hate criminals.

Oh definitely!! My friend Norma's husband (now ex-husband) played steel for Ricky for years. He (Terry Crisp) plays for Reba now, though.

He is a major cool guy! His best friend was the principal at the Junior High I attended. The principal died a few years ago, and Charlie was crushed. He has done a lot for his friend's family since then. True blue. (Red, white, and blue!) Bless his heart!

Was he the cute redheaded guy? I'm sure I saw him preform at least once.

One night we'll have to share the number of C&W artists that we've seen in Concert over the years. I saw alot of em...even saw Conway!

Audie Murphy was a hero of mine when I was growing up. When I was a kid I saw the movie "To Hell And Back" 15 times at the local movie house. Then, a few years later I saw it several times again at the Drive-In movies. To know that Audie was playing himself just flipped me out. My dad knew that I really respected Audie Murphy and he directed me to the our public library. I spent a few Saturdays looking up Audie and the documentation of what he did. To me Audie (5'5" tall) was taller than John Wayne.

Knowing my admiration and respect for Audie Murphy my Dad took me to a reception for the man at the local American Legion. The place was packed and I was 14 years old in 1961, and I got to shake the hand of Audie Murphy. Wow! I listened to him speak, and he was funny, then serious, then patriotic, then profound. He wasn't acting there were real tears sometimes, but these were his buddies, these were the men he considered more brother than friend.

Months later I was assigned a composition, in english comp. class and I wrote about my "Audie Murphy" experience. I got the first, and last, A that I would ever recieve from my teacher Mrs. Campbell.

Only a few years after that I went to Viet Nam. I carried the spirit of that man, Audie Murphy, into combat.

Thanks Audie, thanks for everything!

I tried to find To Hell and Back at the library today and it's on order. I put my name on the list to be the first one to read it when it gets in.

Got my own copy about three years ago, one of these mail-order places who are forever sending out the catalog. I usually just browse through them and toss ... I can't tell you the delighted surprise when I saw the cover of THAB pictured, as though it was waiting for me to order.

I have a video of the film as well, a favorite over the years, it does do justice to the book, for the time it was made, but I think you will enjoy the life, the story the book tells more. And though I'm not one to tear up when reading, I must admit, I needed my hankie a time or two.

If A&E runs the Biography episode they made for Audie, be sure you catch it. It usually gets re-run around the 4th of July or Memorial Day, the big holidays. One of Audie's sister is interviewed in a couple of spots, a sweet woman who tells you that he was her own hero, he kept their family alive with his squirrel- and rabbit-hunting abilities -- partly why them Krauts never had a chance against him! :)
