The head of the House subcommittee on immigration told the Immigration and Naturalization Service yesterday not to selectively enforce immigration laws by accepting the presence of millions of illegal immigrants.

Rep. George W. Gekas, Pennsylvania Republican and chairman of the Judiciary immigration and claims subcommittee, called "troublesome" recent reports that he said indicate the INS may have to ignore the broader issue of illegal immigration to focus on potential threats to domestic security.

For the INS to nail illegals I would suggest they start swooping on large bars during the World Cup games. This may be the best chance they get for a long time.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren, California Democrat, applauded that focus, saying the INS has limited resources and that the post-September 11 crackdown should not be aimed at all illegal immigrants. "If we turn this into an effort to evict the farm workers instead of finding the terrorists, we will be putting America at risk," she said. "To turn this need to go after terrorists into a need to oust those who pick our vegetables, I think, would be a real disservice."
Is this a democrat calling for racial profiling????

No. Zoe is trying to save her illegal servants for whom she failed to pay SS or CA disability taxes. Let's all subsidize Zoe's lifestyle after all she represents us in congress.

I'm just curious as to Zoe's feelings on targeting terrorists in airport searches?? I'm not in Calif, so I shouldn't really care, but catching a democrat talking out of both sides of their mouth can be fun sometimes.

There are many ways for insects to get in your house, but that doesn't mean you don't put screens on the windows!

"But that plan drew criticism yesterday from Marisa J. Demeo, a lawyer for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, who said most of those persons are guilty of violating civil immigration laws, not of criminal offenses, and don't pose a threat to national security."

Violating the law is not a criminal offense?!?

Technically no. The only punishment for entering the country is deportation. They are not subject to criminal penalties.

Violating immigration laws may not be a criminal offense, but it is still violating immigration laws and those that do so need to be punished. If rounding up and deporting illegal aliens is the only punishment that we are allowed by law to impose on them, then let's do it, and the sooner the better!

"Violating immigration laws may not be a criminal offense"

Uh... ... ...how could it not be a criminal offense? Doesn't "criminal" mean "violating the law"? Am I missing something? Is this The Twilight Zone?

The Congress can order the INS to target illegal aliens all they want, but they won't get any results until they fire the Libertarian, Ziglar, who's in charge.

Ziglar's an open borders, unlimited immigration advocate who's using the INS to further his Libertarian agenda at the U.S. Taxpayer's expense.
