Here's the new thread, all ready for Thursday.

Testimony recently discussed includes fingerprint evidence, as well as Westerfield's clean laundry. The Van Dam home was (strangely) devoid of fingerprints, except for a couple of latents that didn't match any of the pizza party people or, apparently, David Westerfield.

Westerfield's motorhome didn't contain any of his fingerprints, but did have one print from Danielle L. (the daughter of Westerfield's ex-girlfriend), Jennifer (a friend of Danielle L.), and a partial from Danielle Van Dam.

The prosecution said yesterday that they would be finished "in seven court days".

Now that the prosecution is almost through prosecuting the Van Dams, I expect that the defense will soon start defending David Westerfield. Time will tell, but barring the smoking gun in the next few days, he will walk. And sadly, NO ONE will ever be tried for this crime again!

It is very likely that the DA suffers from Premature Accusation.

"Did you get a chance to follow any of the trial today? If so, what do you make of the unIDed handprint on the bannister going up the stairs? Correction: the handprint was as if coming down but on a part of the rail that a person should have touched while going up the stairs.

I caught a bit of it Karson, but haven't had near as much time as I would like to watch, or post, lately.

Some very bizarre testimony today, IMO. No DW prints in MH and no pizza party gang prints at the VD's? Unbelievable! I can only imagine what the juror's might be making of all this.

And of course the ass-backwards, unID'ed print on the VD's handrail. LE doesn't appear to be all that concerned about explaining it either, but if I were a juror, I'd be entertaining some serious questions, in my mind, about what this all means.

As to what the backward print might mean? As someone on the old thread speculated, the only thing that seems to make sense (to me anyway), is that someone was leaning over the rail, supporting them self with their hand as they were checking the downstairs area out.

Who, when and why is something I'd like to see answered and would certainly want to know, if I were serving on a capital murder trial jury.

You got the correct visual. Looking up the stairway, the bannister would be on your right. Therefore, if you touched it your handprint should be "going upward". The witness testified the print was pointed in the direction of someone going DOWN the stairs.

As to what the backward print might mean? As someone on the old thread speculated, the only thing that seems to make sense (to me anyway), is that someone was leaning over the rail, supporting them self with their hand as they were checking the downstairs area out.

If you were abducting Danielle from UPSTAIRS, why would you be looking downstairs to see if the coast was clear? Wouldn't the people you feared would see you be upstairs? I would assume that this was after everyone had gone to bed.

I would think all unID'd prints in the VD house would be relevant. Am I correct that the 2nd unID'd print was outside the sliding glass door? Or did I misunderstand?

Yep....me too. This is a case with big holes (as far as what we know now) and suspicious parental goings-on.

Not only would I need the answer, but I would also frown upon what appeared to be an uninterested police department.

Was the unID'd print on the bannister a clear print that could not be matched to anyone or a smeared, or otherwise unclear, print that may or may not match any of the persons involved?

The witness did not know which side door...inner or outer as the forensic tech did not specify.....just as the tech did not specify if Danielle L's and Jennifers prints were on the inside or the outside of the window....HELLO!!!...seems to me those are relevant observations that should be noted.

Will verify this when I read the transcript...that transcript is a must read!

Be patient..the prosecution has to let the experts tell the story..he'll summarize it for "the people" in his closing arguments. Dusek simply CAN'T tell the people why this piece of evidence fits in the crime, but he can bring forth witnesses who can...and tell him I miss him too!!!
