WESTERFIELD TRIAL: Week Three - Day Four
San Diego Courtroom Trial | none

Posted on 06/19/2002 8:45:03 PM PDT by NatureGirl

Here's the new thread, all ready for Thursday.

Testimony recently discussed includes fingerprint evidence, as well as Westerfield's clean laundry. The Van Dam home was (strangely) devoid of fingerprints, except for a couple of latents that didn't match any of the pizza party people or, apparently, David Westerfield.

Westerfield's motorhome didn't contain any of his fingerprints, but did have one print from Danielle L. (the daughter of Westerfield's ex-girlfriend), Jennifer (a friend of Danielle L.), and a partial from Danielle Van Dam.

The prosecution said yesterday that they would be finished "in seven court days".

Other reasonable explainations will surely be presented. These items don't prove murder. Maybe a surprise witness will testify that Danielle was playing in the MH, fell, lost a tooth, got a bloody mouth and DW picked her up, held her against his chest and carried her home.

This is Kim's response to my theory:

Do you know Diane's alibi for that evening? Does she not have one? I don't think anyone can explain away all the evidence that is piling up against DW.

She said the profile of those hairs matched the database of 5071 used to the Asian population, or something to that effect.

The family was living as if he were an officer of Qualcomm, not a contractor.

I have seen other posters make these comments in the past. I wonder what about the van Dam lifestyle seems so extravagant? I am talking financially extravagant. We live on one modest income, yet have a nice home, two cars, etc. and we travel, too! Just wondering.....thanks.

P.S. Our only debt is mortgage and a loan on a parcel of land we own in northern AZ, so we're not even living on credit.

Tell Kim I say Hello - could you ask her what she thinks of the hair tangled in Danielle's hand stuff? I think it's crucial - if it's DW's he's done - if it's her own - nothing is gained either way - if it's unidentified it's reasonable doubt.

I can't map out how the frame would work exactly, but I think it is possible. It would have to involve the parents or at least one of them.

They could provide the blood prior to dumping her body and the fingerprint may have been a lucky catch because the child had been in the MH at some other time.

I admit it is far-fetched, but so is a neighbor walking into another neighbor's house in the middle of the night with adults at home and grabbing a child, going back home and doing whatever until the sun is up and transporting her body (dead or alive) in broad daylight.

When someone can make me understand that, I may give up other crazy theories.

Either way, I sure hope all of us know as much as possible by the time this is over. It is a mini series in real life.

Do you live in a 350,000+ home? Do you drive the Excursion and buy pot? Just curious?

Other persons with short, dark hair:

Damon

Keith Stone

Bill Libby???

We saw Rich Brady and he looked more gray.

We have not seen Neal Westerfield

Since this is SoCal, the home is probably about $450K-$550K. And I'd have to say that that wouldn't be very extravagant in QCOM terms for engineers, if that's how you summarize it. A couple of years ago, when QCOM stock was pretty darned high, new BMWs & porsches were popping up ALL OVER the parking lot. It was the latest craze. Everyone was buying new homes & new cars. Those days are sadly over. =(

We have a Jeep, not an Excursion. House prices are not in the same category as CA (my lands, CA is high), but I would say income/home price would translate statistcally, maybe. Is that the "extravagance"? That they have a nice home and drive an Excursion? (Plus the rumored BMW?)

I'm just guessing, but from the tone of your post it sounds like
you are very careful and smart with your money. I do
not get the same impression from the Van Dams. Do you
drive a luxury SUV? Have you ever taken a trip to Disney
World and then a trip to Europe a month later? Did you
recently buy a BMW? These are what give us pause for thought
about the Van Dams. My guess is that they are benefiting from
the huge appreciation in their house over the last few years
and have some extremely large credit card bills.

I think the BMW was purchased with funds from the Danielle search fund.
