The family was living as if he were an officer of Qualcomm, not a contractor.

I have seen other posters make these comments in the past. I wonder what about the van Dam lifestyle seems so extravagant? I am talking financially extravagant. We live on one modest income, yet have a nice home, two cars, etc. and we travel, too! Just wondering.....thanks.

P.S. Our only debt is mortgage and a loan on a parcel of land we own in northern AZ, so we're not even living on credit.

Do you live in a 350,000+ home? Do you drive the Excursion and buy pot? Just curious?

I'm just guessing, but from the tone of your post it sounds like
you are very careful and smart with your money. I do
not get the same impression from the Van Dams. Do you
drive a luxury SUV? Have you ever taken a trip to Disney
World and then a trip to Europe a month later? Did you
recently buy a BMW? These are what give us pause for thought
about the Van Dams. My guess is that they are benefiting from
the huge appreciation in their house over the last few years
and have some extremely large credit card bills.

BvD couldn't remember the price of a box of GS cookies-- and yet she was out helping her daughter sell them. OTH, Keith Stone said he thought $6 was a high cover-- he got into Dad's free, as a friend of the band. We don't know if it was a real ladies' nite, or if they avoided the cover by going early. BvD went twice in eight days, that we know and bought drinks. If you start adding it up, it can look extravagant.
