You dodged the question. I guess your tolerance doesn't extend that far.
BTW the only polygamist family I knew was....tada....gay. Three women raising two foster kids.

My point is that I believe gay people and Christians can peacefully coexist, the same way other non-Christians and Christians currently coexist. I'm curious. When gay rights organizations try to use the courts to force their way into explicitly Christian institutions, is that 'peaceful coexistence'?

My reaction was not knee-jerk. What I meant was that in a free society, gay people have every right to pursue their happiness as you do yoursSo far, it's not deeper. Don't child molestors and Molech-worshipers have a right to pursue their happiness? No? Why not? Think, this time.
Do I run into homosexuals daily? Probably. Them, rapists, murderers, thieves, unreflecting posters. But (A) that has nothing to do with parenting, and (B) it hasn't caused me to lose my ability to make moral distinctions yet.

I heard that Sponge Bob outed Squidward on the show.

Our family celebrated a Nickelodeon Channel-Blocking party last night. I played some of those old "Schoolhouse Rock" videos for my kids instead. My children love the "America" video. They get a kick out of the "No More Kings" and the other Revolution based songs. Great stuff. I learned the Preamble To The Constitution from those things (I still hum the tune mentally whenever I quote it! LOL!)
Errr... we were talking about Nick-who?!?

How do "gays" go about having children? What is the biological mechanism they employ to make this happen? Homosexual couples are allowed to adopt in some states. There's also the turkey baster method. And of course sometimes they have children the regular way before deciding that they are "gay".

Being different has always been a reason to tease amongst children. Good point and I think that's mostly what this show was focusing on. In the aftermath of so many school shootings, it seems more relevant today to do anything we can to reduce the cruel teasing that goes on in every school.
One of the most popular put downs in schools today is the expression "that's so gay." I think that makes this special on Nickelodeon fairly appropriate. My 14 year old nephew says "that's so gay" all the time without realizing that his best friend's aunt is a lesbian. I know his best friend resents it but won't say anything about it.
This show was needed in this day and age. It was done appropriately and tastefully. It did not propagandize or promote homosexuality. It merely discussed, with equal weight and respect, differing viewpoints on the subject of gay parents.
I don't see what some people are so upset about. Unless you have your kids living in a bubble, they probably already hear most of the stuff discussed on the show anyway.

(Pardon my intrusion)
"so you should read everything David Duke writes so you won't be ignorant about racists?"
No, just so I won`t be ignorant of David Duke`s opinion on the subject.

I seriously doubt that America's youth flocked to the TV set in droves to see Rosie and what's-her-name yammer on about how great is to be homosexual...unless of course it was a homework assignment.
Anybody have numbers? I bet it bombed ratings-wise.

I watched the show on tape today. It was TOTAL propaganda. Did you notice how the emphasis was on TOLERATING the kids with gay parents, but not TOLERATING the kids who thought homosexuality was wrong. The whole thing was nauseating. And I thought Rosie was going to eat the child sitting next to her.

Um. Did you watch the show on Nickelodeon? If they showed any sexual activity, I must have missed it. As I mentioned to others, there is an off button on the TV. On the other hand, regardless of how you feel about homosexuality, the show could be used to help open discussion on these topics. I wouldn't advocate it if you felt your children would not mature enough to handle the discussion; but, there is no reason to criticize the show and say it should have never aired.
Thank you for the quotations. Being much more learned than I, I would ask if you could offer an explanation of the story of Ruth and Naomi.
Likewise, I leave you with these passages that I try to follow.
They love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. (Matt. 6:5)
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. (Luke 6:37)
It is the Lord: let Him do what seemeth Him good. (I Sam. 3:18)
With the Lord there is mercy. (Ps. 130:7)
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar. (I John 4:20)
By the way, what would you do if a homosexual approached your children? I know what I would do.
