This is really a murder mystery that needs a motive attached to it....what could the MOTIVE be? we know who was killed...when he was killed...where he was killed and Who killed him, but we don't know WHY!! People just don't go hundreds of miles to kill someone without a reason.

Why the bike...was it His bike...did he bring hs bike?? why take ten days off to gofor a job interview and then have 9 days left??/

Freepers...I need your help on this one!

Brown... told federal agents of his concerns that something may happen during his upcoming wedding

I still suspect official, or semi-official, or even free-lance smuggling, with someone not getting his cut. Or, being in the parts business, double billing with someone not getting his cut. Or someone getting ready to talk to authorities and someone else making sure that didn't happen.

But I would be curious to know a little about Angela Fell's background. Did she know Harbour? Did she have DOD contacts?

The wedding seems to have some significance, but I can't imagine what.

During the Clinton years, and maybe still, there was a scam used by the Chinese to obtain high-tech military hardware, such as missile guidance systems. It required someone in the DOD to certify the hardware as "surplus".

It would then be sold off to a company specializing in military surplus, who would then transship the stuff to China.

The Chinese would work through US surplus dealers, sometimes buying the company, but always maintaining US citizens as the owners of record, in order to preserve access to DOD surplus.

So you have a lawyer on the inside, who could arrange certification, and Brown, a military surplus parts dealer.

I'm reaching here, but Clinton's gone, and our relations with the Chinese are evolving. Maybe people are bailing and covering their tracks?

How's that for a Grand Unified Theory?

Weired - and that sand up there is so soft that riding a bike is impossible. Brown musta caught Harbour stealing something - like bales of marijuana.

<<< "Two days after Harbour left, police arrested him near Perdido Key, a barrier island in the Florida panhandle near the Alabama state line. He is accused of fatally stabbing 51-year-old James Dudley Brown that morning," >>>

<<<"There is also evidence that Brown was fleeing, Rimmer said. Some of Brown's multiple stab wounds were to his back -- including a blow that severed his spinal cord. Also, Rimmer said, a large amount of blood trailed from the house across the street to where Brown was found. >>>

____________________________________________________________ AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH how we are intrigued by a mystery and this is an excellent one ...

On the face of it Harbour's story has lots of holes in it. It is possible for him to be where he was,(it stretches credulity doesn't it?) only it seems he went directly, to this rather out of the way location. He parked his car elsewhere and rode his bike to Brown's house. The stabbing with multiple stab wounds indicates much passion or deadly intent. Did he have 'Saw Palmetto' leaves with him when arrested? His taking it to cut Saw Palmetto as a treatment for the prostrate seems too thin an excuse.

<<< Harbour's search for land to buy took him to Brown's neighborhood. He rode his bicycle and carried a bayonet that he usually takes to dig up items when he uses a metal detector. This time, he used it to cut saw palmetto, a plant that eases prostate problems." >>>

There's much more to this story. Will it come to light? What person/attorney is prepared to kill another person without cause in such a manical way? Were these guys in Vietnam? On the front lines? Where the fighting was occurring?

Brown... told federal agents of his concerns that something may happen during his upcoming wedding.

This has been nagging at me. I am assuming it means he wanted out, due to his upcoming wedding, and feared they might not let him out.

Harbour may have feared Brown would go to the authorities, and went to confront him. Maybe he feared that if he waited until after the wedding, and the honeymoon trip from which Brown might not return, it would be too late.

Somebody stop me, I'm on a roll here.

I still like my "grand unified theory". A dealer in surplus military parts is in a perfect position to trans-ship high-tech weapons systems to third countries, with or without official approval. It takes an approved military surplus dealer, and someone on the inside to certify the equipment as "surplus". Oh, hey, maybe someone like a civilian lawyer for the Joint Forces Command.
