Yes... Madrid Fault ... Hannibal is in the northern east part of the state. The main fault is in the Southeast part of the state.

Its the South-east corner of Missouri that earthquake watchers have their eye's on. Hanibal is almost at the north-east corner.

The New Madrid fault....It runs from New Madrid, MO southwest to Marked Tree, AR.
I'm working on power plant construction site just southwest of Blytheville, AR and we are sitting right dead on top of this fault (plant has seismic restraints designed into it). We did not feel a thing but there is so much heavy construction equipment shaking the ground at work here right now that we probably wouldn't have felt it anyway.....still, it is kinda scarey, especially if we got another one like the one in the early 1800s...the devestation would be HUGE.
